Hi I have generally enjoyed the banter on the forum but the bunch of up their own ass bell ends that have taken it upon themselves to belittle anyone that dont agree with. So I will make it as simple as their views and delete my profile and move on. I have a low tolerance of self superiority and idiots congratulations

Some examples would be good.

Your one about preferring to have Brexit over well nourished kids is probably not a good example.

Tbf Spruce you just answered your own question ..... exhibit A.....Brexit!! I also have no time for racists!

They don’t tolerate any dissent from their very specific world view. Anything genuinely bigoted should not be tolerated but with these guys you dare to stray one iota from comrade spruce and his mates party line and they’ll round on you

Were it simply that, I would agree sometimes that more conservative views do get shouted down a little too harshly. And I say this as someone who is politically left wing.

some of the conservative posters do argue their point very well, and I think have a lot of respect for that. But others simply just play the victim, saying the 'Herd', the 'Groovy Gang' or these days 'The Bullies' are against them and dont attempt to justify their position.

So, my message to the leftybumfesters - lets keep our arguments rational, free from abuse and seek to educate and inform.

And the the conservatives, please try to do the same, without playing the recent victim card. But be aware, if you are trying to support something clearly bigoted or racist, this may not be the forum for it.

Look, Spruce is over zealous and riddled with hypocrisy, there are a few others too but the idea that those on the site that are intolerant of intolerance are somehow the most intolerant group on the site is absurd.

Plenty of productive and pleasant discourse happens between people on both sides of the political spectrum on TWTD.
in this thread Treqqi has complimented myself despite us not having views that are entirely in sync, I’ve complimented Stokers and Glassers who are posters on the opposite end of the spectrum for the way they conduct themselves in discussions too.

I’m exactly the kind of poster you’re claiming is intolerant of others views and it’s just not the case. I will however challenge people when they make spurious statements or share ignorant opinions, which is essentially why this thread exists. I challenged the OP in another thread, he couldn’t justify his daft statements and had a brilliant flounce.

Challenging people is healthy, what’s not healthy is being so deeply entrenched in your stance that you can’t have a sensible discourse. There are berks on both side of the spectrum that suffer with that on here, it’s really not fair to characterise one side as worse than the other.

All that being said, you’re not improving the discourse with this rhetoric, you are part of the problem.

Any hypocrisy I may harbour tends to come from being sick and tired of being told that I need to treat these racists, trolls and bigots with respect. I'm over it. The state of the comments on that McGoldrick article was the final straw. Reading them was genuinely upsetting. And then you have posters on here today defending someone who blubbed off because they got called out for racism? It's absurd.

I'll reserve the genuine discussions for the genuine decent posters who deserve it - whatever side of the political divide they' happen to be on.

Good.

I'm still a little put off by the fact you know what he said and you still think he's more decent than I am but whatever.

Yeah, he did say that. I saw the thread.

In the spirit of fairness I must mention that despite regularly clashing horns with Benters I became quite fond of the daft old boy. I agree he said a lot of daft things, held bigoted views and I would challenge him in them regularly, but there was no doubt an endearing quality to him.

Are you thick? In response to him suggesting that all you do is reply to reasonable comments with personal insults, you personally insult him. Could you not spot the slightest bit of irony in that or is your lefty hive mind brain too small?

My favourite part of your post complaining about insults was the first three words where you insulted me.

Absolutely, you have your own personal reasons and that’s you. I respect that.

It is unfortunate though that it gives people an opportunity to undermine the pertinent points you make but as I know all too well that’s the risk you take when you’re so combative and confrontational.

I think there are some fair criticisms of you from posters in this thread, however they themselves are undermined by various other bias/hypocrisies from the posters in question.

I think synty has nailed it tbh.

I was upset and angry by some of those too. I hope some bans were handed out.
I have so much respect for clubs banning racists who opposed their BLM support, Especially WBA, that was class of them.

Being on the left, we fear the direction the world is headed at the moment.
But we have to show some control or we sail far to close to what we fight against.

Aye.

I don't think there's too many genuine arguments to be won on here anyway. Not with the people I save my ire for at least. When was the last time a Benters or a Grimboy or Paz was won over with facts and reasoning, or feck it, even by appealing to their humanity?

I'll hold my hands up and say I'm all in on this BLM stuff, I don't think you can avoid that living where I do. I'm sick of posting the same basic posts though. The problem is you can't reach these people with polite reason and facts. Half of them you can't reach at all.

An example - Last week I answered Girthyguy's question, and defended his right to ask it, when he asked why it's not All Lives Matter but it is Black Lives Matter. Then within a day he was banned for posting racist posts. He didn't genuinely care. He was a flat out racist looking for the lolls.

Some of the people complaining the loudest in this thread aren't interested in learning about it either, they're not wanting to educate themselves, they just want to vent their hatred or own the libs.

So yeah, maybe I could put my points across better, but would I be wasting my time? Probably.

I don't think you would be wasting your time.
Perfect example is how you dealt with Girthy. You engaged him in a non aggressive manner and he ended up banned.
End result, 1 less racist on TWTD, and maybe some people really did learn why its black lives matter, not all lives matter.
Small victory, but a victory nevertheless.
