Do you have the R number for Barnard Castle?

It is worth stressing that the R rate alone may be high with a small number of cases (as happened in Germany) and the overall prevalence of the disease may remain small.

None of which means that pretending the virus has gone away, as seems to be government strategy, is a good idea.

Isn’t it 1.5 in Suffolk?

Not as far as I've seen.

The much heralded story in the Express that Suffolk is heading for lockdown was based on a % increase, which in actual numbers was 2 additional cases in the county, and actually Suffolk has one of the lowest levels of C-19 in the country.

Sorry I was being flippant. When one set of numbers goes down, people tend to grasp anything else going up to make a point.

Yes it is 1.5. There were 2 cases in a week, then there were 3 cases in a week. The R rate is therefore not a suitable indicator on its own

Sort of depends how many have got it though

1 passing it on to 1 is an R rate of 1

5 million passing it on to 5 million is an R rateof 1

Without an effective testing system its pure guesswork how much covid is in London, Leicester - or anywhere

The truth is that in the UK, only around 300 healthy people aged under 60 have died of COVID-19. This doesn't mean that the other deaths don't matter, just that a more viable, sustainable policy is for vulnerable citizens to be advised to shield while the majority try to get on with their lives, which will allow the economy to recover and stem the huge number of job losses and the associated misery. I do still find some of the recent policy decisions baffling, but one can argue about the detail for ever.

Yes, thanks to work, although I’m pretty sure it’s available publicly too?

Not that I’m sure it’s worth sharing with you after your various previous posts downplaying the danger of the virus while insipidity insinuating the government are purposefully fudging the numbers.

No, Suffolk has had a decrease in cases of 50% in the last week - there is a good page in the Grauniad which shows changes per local authority area. Suffolk is low and falling.
