We do need to learn these lessons here though. Sounds like a woeful piece of defending by chambers and Holy hasn't had a blinder in those 4 mins. However it is only 4 mins. Aside from that the reports are positive.
We are seeing where are weaknesses are though particularly without Woolfenden and KVY. We really could do with another ball playing CB.
This is high calibre opposition though and a good lesson but we shouldn't be chucking anything out the window here. To move to passing from the back will never happen overnight. More mistake will follow but we will see progress and particularly against weaker opposition.

It’s not all doom and gloom thought the midfield with Huws and El-Mizouni caused them all manor of problems, put them and Downes in as the midfield 3 and that would cause a lot of problems for any L1 side. | | | |

Great addition and with KVY and Woolf playing we should be good enough in this division. Any injuries back there though leave us really open.
We have struggled for years to have an effective defensive unit. We just get at sixes and sevens too easily. Looks brighter going forward (Although we need a Norwood or Jackson on scoring form).
I don't think we're far away but definitely some concerns to address. I don't think we can afford a ball playing CB. | |

This is the problem PL had when he first took over, he started by encouraging us to play out from the back and then lost his nerve. If this is the path we are taking, we need to stick with it, instead of panicking about a couple of defeats against far superior sides in pre-season. Unfortunately for us, Woolfenden is the only senior CB that likes the ball to feet the others panic when put under the slightest bit of pressure. We have to accept we are going to see mistakes, but we need to back the players. One thing I'd hope PL would do, instead of just solely relying on playing out from the back that we mix things up more by going long at times, otherwise we're going to be come too predictable. | |

I thought Chambers had an uncomfortable afternoon, as did Holy. Nsiala and ward were fine. Donacien fine, but when he's comparison is always KVY I'm never that impressed by him.

Agree. It just seems mental that you would not take KVY and spend more on Donacian having actually watched him play in close quarters. | |

Indeed. If he hadn’t have misjudged it he would still have been on his line and in a position to possibly save the goal. As it was he was in no man’s land and left the goal empty. I think it says a lot about some ITFC supporters that a mistake by Chambers is immediately highlighted but a similarly glaring one by the goalkeeper is ignored. Pretty sure had that been Cornell in goal that wouldn’t have been the case either. | | | |
