Just because I point out its a bit tone deaf of an establishment produced rich white girl from Sweden to be lecturing about how economic growth is negative doesnt mean I don't accept the need for green policies and the urgency of climate change.
Developing countries yes would benefit from green investment, however wider economic growth benefits them more. You just have to look at how society has transformed in Ecuador , in Colombia,.in Peru in just the last 30 years to realise that - those countries now have thriving middle classes.
The environment is unquestionably are greatest challenge and it is actually something beyond politics & environment strategy is something that should be locked in & protected over decades & shouldn't change election to election, short-termism is part of our inability to deal with these massive issues |  | | |

Extinction Rebellion lost any respect from me and millions of others the second they started protesting and blocking roads - including outside hospitals. Many stories of people missing saying goodbye to dying relatives and dads not being there for their child’s birth. And ER still wouldn’t budge. So f**k em.
Greta Thunberg is a strange child in the sense that I’m quite sure she’s a puppet to someone controlling her mind - probably her parents. She’s a child after all and yet spends her life doing that. Bizarre. |

That’s an interesting post and since you’ve been nice enough about it, I’ll respond. I won’t with Spruce as I know his game by now. Shame he’s still around on here.
Maybe I do do that. It’s hard to listen to the points being made if the method is disingenuous. I struggle to feel sympathy with ER when they were deliberately causing problems. Such as the blocking of roads around the country and the like. That doesn’t mean their original point isn’t correct because climate change is obviously a major issue. I just feel as though that specific group.. not for me. I disliked their methods at the time and still do. Greta just annoys me tbh so I’m probably just bias against her as she’s someone I am irritated by for no real reason. I’ll accept.. that ones on me.

Problem is Rommers that one of the only ways to get governments to take notice is through civil disobedience and bringing the issues into the judicial system.
You'd think people would care about the planet falling apart and the younger generations that are going to have to deal with it. But amazingly that's not even much of a vote-winner. |  |

Sorry I just meant her being white and rich doesn’t change the fact she’s doing the right thing. Im fact (as I hinted to in another post) as someone in a position to raise awareness it’s good she has.
I just worry comments like that distract from the main point and give ammo to stupid people who need that last thread of logic denial to avoid taking information on board.
Sometimes in recent months I’ve found it’s best to keep my mouth shut about the small nuisances that add little to the narrative, Russia, China and secretive right wing data companies will handle those parts sadly. |  |

Yes. And? It was before we were told to stay home. When we were told to stay at home (a couple of weeks after Cheltenham), I locked down in Wycombe with my friends at uni who I live with. And acted like everyone else - sticking to the rules. Not protesting in a global pandemic.
