What I find so incredibly bewildering and disrespectful, is that the youngsters were told to come down for what is essentially a CHARITABLE photograph for the NHS, and then told they weren't in it.
How in any way could this be "tough love" or appropriate in any way? It is alienating and rude. Just incredible. |  | | |  |

I'm going to try and put on my rational head here and we don't know all the facts, but from the outside looking in that doesn't look good, especially as you'd be hoping a few of them would be making an impact this season. It’s understood that Idris El Mizouni, Armando Dobra, Corrie Ndaba, Aaron Drinan and Brett McGavin all turned up for the photo call at Portman Road but were told by manager Paul Lambert that they weren’t to be included.
The young quintet were also told that they will be playing for the Under-23s in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Norwich this evening (5pm), rather then being involved in tomorrow’s first team friendly at League Two side Cambridge United (1pm). |

The individual photos are done at the same time as the group shot, just added that as an aside. Specifically PL said to them they wouldn't be involved in the photoshoot as a whole. I assume there will be shots taken of the U23s on another day. |  | | |

Yes it wasn't Joe's fault as just reporting what he read. If the EADT have made that assumption and made this look a whole lot worse then it is really poor.
Personally this is getting massively overblown. They have a game tonight and that is the priority for those 5. They also may have had this really intelligently communicated to them with some motivational messages and encouragement etc. If that is the case then this is really a tiny story being made out to look really bad.
However it doesn't sit well with me that Dobs and El Mizouni haven't had there individual photos done. But maybe they'll get them done still separately. We'll see. | |

"Youngsters Idris El Mizouni, Armando Dobra, Brett McGavin, Corrie Ndaba and Aaron Drinan were left out of the first-team photo call held at Portman Road yesterday afternoon.
We understand the quintet were told by manager Paul Lambert at the training ground earlier in the day that they wouldn’t be included in the group shots or have individual photos taken.
Of the five, only Dobra, 19, and El Mizouni, 19, were given squad numbers when they were released earlier in the summer, while Drinan, 22, and McGavin, 20, started pre-season training with the senior players and have featured throughout the first-team friendlies so far.
Ndaba, 20, the only one of the five not to have made a competitive first-team appearance up to now, has impressed with his displays during pre-season.
The five are set to be the U23s squad for tonight’s friendly at Norwich and we understand will also make the trip with the first team for Saturday’s final pre-season game at Cambridge.
Twenty-four players were included in the annual photo call, which due to coronavirus restrictions didn’t include the regular group shot with the players forming the letters NHS in the centre circle instead in tribute to health service workers.

It’s the official squad photo for 2020/2021.
They also weren’t included in having their photos done individually.
Also some of them haven’t been given a squad number nor have some of them had their names printed on the back of their shirts for the pre-season games, talk about singling the poor lads out.
They’ve been involved with the first team so at least should be given a number and made to feel part of the squad.
Lambert has said they’re likely to be involved once the season starts.

They weren't invited to that particular photo shoot for reasons unknown, but given there are limits on numbers for such things due to covid, it's not a giant leap to suggest that may have been why. Doesn't mean we won't do their photos another time and aren't being made to feel part of the squad. They are junior players, I'm sure they understand the status quo.
You're taking something without knowing all the facts and then bending the context to fit how you feel about Lambert. There is plenty to criticise him over without resorting to witch hunt behaviour imo.
Maybe one of the youngsters will post an ambiguous meme on social media soon, then you can all go off on another bed wetting spree about that. |  |

I don't think anyone's suggested it has impacted on them being ready. They're saying what matters for these kids is game time, not photoshoots. The photoshoot was a minor irrelevance. You can barely see who's in it anyway. | |

Hey man...I was backing you up on the not your fault bit. Haha.
I just mean there is a big melt down about a photo. When you actually think about it it's not this huge deal. Was more worried when their was talk they were in U23 and not Sat which is not the case. Just meant the football match is bigger then this photoshoot.
Still odd though re Dobs and El Mizouni...but we don't know how it was told to them. | |
