Cummings gone with immediate effect on 18:19 - Nov 13 by C_HealyIsAPleasure | Some people are going to be awfully confused when reporters continue to quote statements from government sources, as statements from government sources, as has happened with every government in recent memory... |
That's missing the point somewhat. The issue isn't that these sources exists, or that they are quoted as such, but they little more than Government messages are being fed through to selected members of the press as an "unnamed source" so they have to take no responsibility for their message. It is different than it was before.

We should make Lambert Out pre-Christmas our priority now. We need a speaker, somebody to shout it from the rooftops. Any idea who?

Exactly this. He specifically chose Cummings to be his man. He gambled big time and now it's all fallen on its face. 'boris' needs to own his own mistakes, I'm afraid. There's only so far being a political chancer relying on a eugenicist crank can take you.

Christ, imagine writing that and calling someone else condescending

Arguably, Boris already HAS a government that fits his character, given that its incompetent, lazy, bigoted, corrupt and utterly unwilling to take any responsibility for its failings. [Post edited 14 Nov 2020 9:53]

I don’t think it is, anonymous sources have existed for as long as I can remember and been reported as such I don’t think it’s ideal but it isn’t unusual, and the accusation that goes with this is one of bias which clearly isn’t the case seeing as statements are reported as being from the government. It’s just a nonsense claim really

Not fair to do that. CC’s not a random forum user, nor is Peter Oborne, nor are the multiple journalists and political commentators that have made the same point about the behaviour of some of the prominent lobby journalists.

She may want to have a word with her employers then, seeing as the Cambridge Analytica allegations were reported by her own newspaper as being unfounded: https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/uk-news/2020/oct/07/cambridge Of course, Vote Leave was found guilty of other breaches and the general comments in the first tweet are generally spot on. But that’s rather separate the point she’s trying to imply there

Think it's reasonable to question whether someone accused of subverting the course of democracy in a way that will negatively effect the lives of millions of people should be able to use the BBC's political editor as a vehicle to rebut such accusations prior to them being investigated.

Alternatively a reporter published someone’s response to allegations, as being a response from them about allegations. Which is something which happens in the press on pretty much a daily basis It’s not like it was dressed up as being from anyone else or trying to make a defence on his behalf. And in this instance not even a government source, which seems to be what some people have an issue with even though comments attributed as such are clearly from the government And those allegations were actually shown to be false, contrary to what Cadwaller has suggested. At least comments from a government source are reported as being from a government source accurately

Don't know the ins and outs, but Vote Leave was basically run by Cummings & was found to have broken electoral law. It isn't appropriate for any journalist, let alone a national broadcaster, to without qualification give voice to a criminal operation in respect to that lawbreaking.

“I’m told there is a blog coming. Spads [special advisers] are preparing about how to respond,” said one official. “Dom is going to have to face up to the fact that after spending years writing millions of words in his blogs, he has achieved nothing in government,” said one ministerial adviser. Hopefully the fun is just getting started.

You don't have any relevant choons for the sacking of a PM's top aide? Clearly you are not the afficianado you make out to be. I am downgrading you from Cheggers to Dave Lee Travis.

Quite a niche tune theme to be fair. Didn't DLT get some grief from project yewtree? Can I be Tony "real like Partridge" Blackburn instead?

The Hairy Cornflake did indeed get his collar felt. But that Eamonn Forde tw@tter review of his Blackburn's book is hilarious. If anyone knows how to show the whole thread instead of individual posts, it'd be appreciated!
