Is track and trace still a thing? 20:36 - Jan 10 with 3536 views | SitfcB | Or have they stopped doing that now seeing as the numbers are so high? I’m isolating now, until next Sunday, after being in contact with someone who’s tested positive. I had a test yesterday which was negative. Should I expect a phone call or are people just isolating off their own accord now which can only be done if you know the person that has tested positive! [Post edited 10 Jan 2021 20:40]

Is track and trace still a thing? on 09:16 - Jan 11 by jontysnut | I'm no statistician but given the high infection rate in parts of the country I'm surprised that a bigger chunk of the population isn't isolating after contact |
Based on the number of positive results at the moment you'd be expecting huge amounts of people to be self isolating. Hundreds of thousands of people. Just feels like one of those things that is so unfit for purpose that people are now forgetting it.

Is track and trace still a thing? on 20:38 - Jan 10 by Swansea_Blue | Should still be a thing. My Mrs was called within about 36 hours when she had it (early Dec). I'm still waiting 5 weeks later! Wasn't it all supposed to be part of Operation Moonshot? They've gone very quiet about that, lol. |
My partner works in mental healthcare. Last Wednesday she was on observation with 3 patients (so within 1m of them). 2 of them a day later tested positive for Covid. She was not told until Saturday evening. They were not going to tell her because of "confidentiality" reasons (???). They also had tests for all staff since December but just hadn't been giving them to staff. I think we can probably guess why. This is of course a private company that works for the NHS.

No idea. It's a good job I'm not in an "at risk" category, and the confidentiality thing was just so absurd that I don't even know where to begin. It's not like she wouldn't know who tested positive as they are isolating at the hospital. On Saturday she nearly went straight onto the ward without full PPE on because nobody had notified her she needed the full set. Thankfully her manager caught her before she went in. She now has the tests thankfully and should be taking them today. Still ridiculous though. And just for the kicker, if she does get it, she's only eligible for SSP.

Sounds to me like they are 'eligible' to be sued for negligence. I know of a young girl who was ordered by her manager, ( at a Co-op), to keep quiet after she had tested positive. Obviously she couldn't work and stayed home to isolate but her manager didn't want her freaking out other staff members. Highly irresponsible.

Fun update, she's tested positive on one of the rapid tests. Fingers crossed for a false positive but if not we could have both been spreading this for days by accident.

Thanks. Another kicker we found out is that she doesn't qualify for an early vaccine because she doesn't technically work for the NHS, even though all of her patients are NHS patients, and if those patients get Covid they have to do the cleaning of the rooms and still monitor them closely. Well thought through policy. Privatisation sure is wonderful.

We're both OK, thank you. Both got a bit of normal cold symptoms at the moment. Just both frustrated, especially as their work did not tell us for a good few days and in those days we have both been to shops for food and could have been spreading it. You'd think as they are healthcare they'd be extra vigilant but they seem more concerned with having people in work rather than trying to prevent others from catching it.

Is track and trace still a thing? on 20:42 - Jan 10 by SitfcB | It was just at the Copdock drive thru site. Test was at 16:00 yesterday got the text 16:00 today. A colleague who’s also off had a test Friday morning in Norwich at 8am and got his text result at 20:00 the same day. |
My boy had a test at 9:30am and we got the e-mail just before midnight that night

That’s bizarre. And using confidentiality doesn't cut it either. Her company could have simply informed her that she had been in contact with somebody who has tested positive for COVID, but due to GDPR they couldn’t inform her who it was. Then they should have supplied your Mrs details to track and trade who would have told her to self isolate without saying who passed COVID on to her.

You'd think so, but it's even more ridiculous than that. She works in healthcare, and when she was next in she'd have been well aware who it was due to them being isolated in their rooms. These patients aren't in and out all the time, they can be there for months. But as you say, they had no need to identify them even if that wasn't the case. During that time I forgot she also went to the opticians on the Thursday. Very much hoping it wasn't spread then. The more I think about it then more annoyed I am.

That’s mad. Doesn’t seem like there’s any consistency either, my mother in law is a health visitor and their service was privatised a couple of years ago (total fiasco and scandalous but that’s another story) but she’s already been offered the vaccine.
