Lambert insists that all players travel on team bus for Ipswich away games. Norwood was in London and very close to Wimbledon ground. Lambert made him drive to Ipswich only to get on the bus back to where he started his journey. Norwood just couldn’t understand the logic and wasn’t happy. During the game Norwood missed a couple of good chances and Town drew 0-0. Lambert made unflattering comments about him to the press afterwards. Norwood who had played most of the season in pain decided he wasn’t going to carry on this way.
Also, Garbutt was not well liked by the other players. He had a very big ego and was all about himself.

Lambert would be best advised to help Norwood improve his finishing given he’s the best natural finisher we have. I couldn’t tell you whether any work on the training ground has improved Norwood this season given how few chances he gets. |  |

Look at it this way - think about how many of our players have improved under Lambert and then apply this to the question 'how much coaching is Norwood getting?' |  |

Of all the things to moan about Lambert, I can’t see how this one is his fault based on the OP.
It’s pretty standard for all teams to travel to a game together so unless Lambert gave permission for Norwood to meet the squad there and then went back on his word, Norwood is in the wrong here.
Of course you could argue the players wouldn’t do these things if we had a competent manager in charge that they respected. [Post edited 22 Jan 2021 7:46]

Listens to DM on talking town. He says every month or so he will ask his manger how many players he’s improved. That way it keeps his manger on his toes and gets him working. Lambert too comfortable here under Evans |  | | |

This was also an issue with David mcgoldrich and Bret pitman. If they were playing away matches near there homes they always preferred to be able to go to the game/hotel themselves rather than traveling with the team. Don’t think Mick liked it and was part of there downfall. | | | |

I think the rather frequent and recurring injuries may have played a bigger part in McGoldricks ‘downfall’ here, somehow [Post edited 22 Jan 2021 8:49]

Of all the negative things that Lambert has done here, this really isn't something to beat him with, if the club protocols are that they must be travelling together then what was Norwood doing in London knowing this?
Whilst we are not Man Utd, one of the reasons why Fergie was successful was his no nonsense approach to club rules being strictly adhered to.

Was going to post the same. Out of context this can look bad but it depends how he went about it. He was poor that night too. Wouldn’t surprise me if Norwood went about it in the wrong way and didn’t ask beforehand.
There’s enough to moan about with Lambert anyway so no need to try and stir the pot more. |  | | |
