I don't see the necessity to get a new manager in place first.
It's not as though the manager we have in place at the moment works very well, we would be as effective, if not more so with a caretaker manager from within the club.

He'll do things the other way around, I think. If he has made a decision that a change should be made, and as I said last week, I have heard he is close to that point, then he'll find a replacement, then get rid.

Close??!! Surely he should have made up his mind he’s got to go

I think Lambert said he was sounded out before the Middlesbrough home game

He did, and Hurst got a stay of execution after winning at Swansea.

Don't think anything will happen today, ME will have a new man lined up before the departure happens.

Phil, do you think there is any realistic chance Evans would go for a Kieron Dyer/ Terry Butcher management team? Or is that out of the question?

Also do you think Evans is aware of the strong feelings the supporters have and if so, he is genuinely concerned?

If he's going to lose a huge number of paying supporters, he must surely act now?

I wouldn't expect Kieron to be top of his list but I would hope he would be interviewed.

ME will be aware of fans' views but from conversations I've had with people at the club they think they can get supporters back on side simply by sacking the manager once ME has finally made up his mind to do so. However, I've told them I don't think it's as simple as that, if they pick someone off the merry-go-round, which I think is ME's natural inclination, it won't be the panacea they anticipate.

We've actually played much better latley, sadly results don't reflect this, I think he will still be here in may, then evans will get rid of him, a couple more bad results and this season will be done,

Played much better? We've created about 4 chances in our last 3 matches, that's probably a generous estimate.

I don't think it will be as simple as that either. It feels a little different this time to me. People who, last time, were just thinking "here we go again", may now be contemplating semi-permanent residence in the third division or worse, and seeing that as the death of the club or at least the death of their interest in it. I know I am.

For once there are actually some good managers who are waiting to get back on the merry-go-round, Cowleys, Cook and even Joey Barton. We could lose out one of those to Wimbledon.

I wouldn't want Barton anywhere near ITFC. Cook and Cowley wouldn't go to Wimbledon, but Evans does need to move quickly - Fleetwood still haven't picked a new manager yet and I imagine those 2 will be top of the list for any other top half L1 side looking to make a change.

I don't know what Dyer is like, he appears to have matured a lot and clearly wants to take this route with the remainder of his career.

Lampard, Parker, Gerrard, Barton, all young moving into good 'gigs' immediately and not disgracing themselves at all.

If Dyer got the job, he'd need to carefully pick his staff, engage some experience and not have to many 'yes' men/woman around him. Some diversity in there to question what's going on too.

Who knows who ME has in mind though..

Hell looking at Sunderland as they are now, I think Jack Ross did okay there and perhaps could come back into thinking....

Literally wouldn't like to guess what's on his mind now though

Exactly this.

Yes, we played with a nice tempo, and off the ball we were pretty good, but we created almost nothing at all. Again.

We are absolutely toothless.

Only difference yesterday was that the passing was 20 yards inside their half rather than across the halfway line, besides that it's the same old crap.

I don’t think many managers are sacked on a Sunday? If by mutual consent it can take place post game Saturday, otherwise usually the Monday.

If he isn’t gone tomorrow he’ll in place for Blackpool.

I agree with Mick Mills if the decision is to sack then sack him and advertise the role

Fleetwood have just appointed Grayson this afternoon so don't have to worry about one of them going there, quite happy Grayson's off the market as well as that would've been the type of appointment that would have underwhelmed the fanbase I reckon. Whether or not he was in ME's thinking or not I'm not sure.

Most other clubs do it that way round, I'm not sure why we think our way is so much better given the results.

The absurd practice of simultaneously sounding out replacements and hoping the incumbent turns it round is just absolutely ridiculous. It's a recipe for spending weeks and weeks with your manager on a precipice, your fans hopping mad, all whilst dropping points as you wait for your lame duck manager to finally fall sufficiently off the cliff.

Played as in the football, one up front were never going to be prolific scorers, 3-4 chances is a lot more than in some run of games this season,

That is utterly depressing. Three piss poor performances where we never looked like winning constitute playing much better. What a time to be a Town fan.

Yeah, I mean every decision Evans makes is so on point why wouldn't he run the exact same process every time, its such a proven model!

Fraud of a football club owner, fraud of a manager. Didnt think I was passionate about football anymore but Evans makes me find that anger again. So glad he's not had any of my money for years, even if I've also lost out in the process.

Not sure it is, other than being a little unfair on the incumbent, but managers know football is a tough world. Means the new man can come in and get on with it without there being a period of uncertainty under a caretaker in between.

Its hardly uncertainty though, is it? Loads of clubs sack managers and have a temp period. It can be a good time to take stock and see what natural effect it has on the players and potentially staff.

There would be an argument about time etc to fight for promotion but considering he's wasted 18 months not sacking Lambert already that kind of falls on deaf ears.
