We’ve accepted £1m+ offer from Huddersfield... 23:14 - Feb 1 with 6015 viewsKieran_Knows

.. for Jackson.

TERRIERS’ JACKSON BID ACCEPTED

Huddersfield have bid £1million plus add-ons for Ipswich forward Kayden Jackson.

The Terriers’ offer has been verbally accepted by Ipswich, but we await to find out if the paperwork was submitted on time.

Poll: We’ve got super KM, he knows exactly what we need. Woolfie at the back…

Condescending much?

Jackson had a few good months when the team were flying 18 months ago, other than that, bang average.

If you ever saw him live, you’d understand why, he’s just brain dead.

Can’t finish, can’t pass, can’t dribble, can’t cross, can’t hold the ball up, can’t header.

Can run quite fast.

Hey it’s my opinion, but he ain’t a great footballer. I might be wrong, but I doubt it.

Bit harsh. It's league one.

Him and Norwood upfront in a coherent system would score 30 between them imo. Not through quality necessarily, you are just playing Crewe and Burton every week.

I know that was then, but it could be again..

He scored 11 goals if correct, don’t think he burnt the house down, did OK, but let’s not get carried away.

Unfortunately football is more than just ‘stats’. I use my eyes to watch him, his all round game, and my eyes haven’t lied to me yet.

"I use my eyes to watch him, his all round game, and my eyes haven’t lied to me yet."

Think Lambo said this in his last presser.

In a debate about 2 strikers - one of whom shares a video of himself in a wrestling bout a few days after picking up an injury for town, who has a drink driving conviction, who spent the first lockdown in his garden drinking beer and can't be bothered to look after himself properly so is permanently injured, you've described the other one as 'brain dead'?

Have to say that doesn't look like a great comment to me - Jackson comes across as articulate and sensible in interviews, and there's no footballing reason why anyone should call him 'brain dead' - his movement is decent and he set up a fair amount of chances last season when we were doing well.

You're wrong, to the surprise of nobody but yourself.

If you look through this twot's posting history you'll soon see it's along the lines of subtle trolling attempts.

Post after post of negativity dressed up as faux concern.

He appeared from nowhere and adopted this style very quickly.

It's not so much a supporter as an all-round stirrer.

Isn't it the poster formerly known as Dan Ford? Has the same propensity to paint itself as some sort of football guru, despite repeatedly stating things that show that not to be the case.

When I think of Jackson I’m reminded of a phrase An old manager of mine used to describe a team mate...

“Every second touch is a tackle”

As his first touch was so woeful, even in space he’d be setting up a 50/50 by near enough passing it to an opponent.

A bit of stretch to apply to Jackson, but from more of his performances than not I’d say he’s lacked a decent enough touch

Indeed, I hate to say it but there's something rather disconcerting about that description of Jackson that suggests certain underlying attitudes.

Norwood and Jackson were a decent enough partnership. Lambert could play 442 and probably get us up. Stubborn, arrogant d1ckhead. Him, not you.

Am I going insane or did Lambert not do exactly that in our first few weeks in this league & they banged in plenty of goals between them?

In the spirit of reconciliation and happiness at the end of the Banter Era (RIP) and as a result of promotion I have cleared out my ignore list. Look forwards to reading your posts!

There's something very, very old-fashioned about these criticisms of Jackson.

Just as a contrast, there was a spell of a few games where pretty much anything Jack Lankester tried didn't come off - he was giving passes away, mis-controlling the ball, being dispossessed easily etc. - and while it was noted on here, the tone and language were completely different to how it would've been if he was black. No-one questioned his attitude, his intelligence, said we 'couldn't trust him' etc etc.

If he had a fantastic first touch he wouldn't be playing for us. Even with his flaws he's spent the last 2 transfer windows being subject of offers from Championship clubs.

And lots of people had a go at me yesterday for telling you all, once again, that these kinds of criticisms apply to only certain types of Ipswich players.

Or no late bid as it turns out.

I don't mind Jackson at all. Play him upfront with someone and get the ball forward more quickly and we'd do ok.

Apparently there was a late bid but it was a loan with the option to make it permanent in the summer and it came at 10.30pm with insufficient time to complete the deal.

If that's the case, it's a bit of a shame for all parties. Clubs are mad for leaving transfers so late half the time. It's not as if they haven't had all month.

If we could play Burton and Crewe each week we might be able to get out of this division! Mind you, I’m not sure we’d finish above Crewe.

I would assume that meant they couldn’t get their first, or probably second choices?

Wally it's quite interesting what you see in some players and not so in others, not just you of course but football opinions overall

But I remember seeing you say McGuiness is a great defender etc, yet he too has a list of things he 'cant' do, I,E can't track a man, can't hold his own against someone with a bit of muscle, goes walkabouts on many occasions, doesn't communicate well with Holy etc

Jackson I agree has some negative traits, howver, you are correct he is fast, but we never EVER play to his strenghs and get the ball behind for him to chase, he is a very solid composed finisher yet we're making him play with back to goal.
David Johnson wasn't a great passer, he also lacked ball control etc, but he had pace, power and knew where the goal was - when facing it. Plus he had Scowcroft etc as a partner, never did he play on his own uptop.

Some good points and worth a reply (unlike the posters who simply name call, with no real counter-argument).

I guess I am quite opinionated and obviously post extreme comments (calling Jackson "brain dead" is a little harsh.

I remember watching him at Wycombe last year, like watching him for half the game, even when he was not near the ball and just shaking my head, he looked lost....

I just don't really rate him, as I say he had a few good months and scored some goals, but then struggled (yes I know, the whole team did!) And since his return from injury he has looked worse than ever (and yes I know, so has the team!)

If he was a player, he would at least show something playing out wide, surely he could at least use his pace there, possibly cut inside with direct, positive running? But no. Yes he is better utilised centrally, but I don't agree with your comment that he is a composed finisher, I just don't see it.

McGuinness has been up and down I admit, but there is a very good defender in there I think, he will get physically stronger and more "streetwise" as he matures, something you don't need at the other end of the pitch as a youngster.

I'm not just some fan with random views on players btw, I'm a UEFA B coach, employed by the FA as a coach mentor and work with OUFC's academy. Not that that makes my view on Ipswich players any more valuable that yours, or anyones on here!

As you say, its all about opinions and guess we all take our frustrations out on this forum more than ever at the moment. Would much rather be doing it over a few pints in the boozer before an Ipswich away match!

RIP Sir Bobby
