Seems poorly named to me. The virus bit makes sense, but someone else pointed out in another thread Fosters is far far worse than Corona.

So what would you name it? What's the sh1ttiest most nasty beer/drink you've ever tasted / drunk / had a hangover on?

I am going for Pernodandblackvirus.

8 pence!

Where's my passport :-)

Yep, that was only a few years back. Bottled brewery beer, also decent was in the region of 30 to 40 pence in the local bars.

We have no village green, or a shop. It's very, very quiet. I can walk to the pub.

Are you really British, if you didn't get drunk on White Lightning, followed by being violently sick as a teenager?

Some of the homemade beers in Vietnam were remarkably excellent, and cost the equivalent of 8 pence a glass.
Only downside of this was trying to perch on plastic chairs designed for 5 year olds after a few too many.

Ooof, I know what you mean! Few glasses of that homemade rice wine and you're sprawled out over those little plastic tables and chairs...

Yeah, that rings a bell and I think I can remember that drink.

But lemonade and Guinness - awful.

Guinness in Nigeria is often drunk with milk or yoghurt. It is the bottled stuff (FES) which is stronger than the UK draught version. Basically the extreme bitterness is a barrier to some people so they look to soften it (With milk or yoghurt)

Guinness have been trying to come up with a milder version for years but nothing has ever really stuck. Which is ironic as punters have managed to do it simply by mixing their own versions. :-)

I think I remember hearing that Guinness is quite popular in Nigeria? Am I right in thinking that there is a big Guinness factory out there?

There's 3, Lagos (Where I worked) and Benin city and Aba.

They have others in Cameroon, Ghana, Kenya. They use 3rd party brewers in smaller markets.

I went out to work for them in 2001. First job in Nigeria. I did the financial planning - so put together the analysis on the 3rd brewery purchase (Aba) in the early 2000s.

They sold more Guinness in Nigeria than Ireland just a few years after I left, second only to the UK globally. Ireland still no 1 per head.

Interesting times :-)

Scrumpy and Guinness is a new one on me.

We used to do snakebites (Lager & Cider) as students with a "depth charge" - a shot in a glass at the bottom.

Cider and Guinness, known as a poor man's black velvet when I were a lad. I remember having it a few times one year at Burnham Week. Trick was to keep each component as a distinct layer in the glass.

....when everyone was panic buying, the only lager you could get in some places was Corona.

Nobody was touching it.

True story.

The general public are idiots.

This is true.

When my supermarket was obliterated last March, corona was pretty much the only stuff left.

I didn’t buy any. I’m not fcking stupid.
