Demise 20:27 - Feb 10 with 5737 views | bristolblue | Has there ever been a more embarrassing time to be a town fan? Largely considered irrelevant by national media, our reputation as a well-run and welcoming club with clear values and ethos are completely in tatters. Kills me to see us being pitied and ridiculed in the press.

And still a million times better than where we are now

Demise on 11:08 - Feb 11 by Churchman | Where we are now is totally irrelevant. And I think MM was very lucky to get the Ipswich job at the time. He’d been fired by Wolves, who’d taken him on after he was fired by Sunderland. He was no Guardiola, Robson or Klopp. He was a bang average championship manager that could get a team hoofing its way into the Premier League, but couldn’t keep it there. He was well paid and there was no pressure on him to succeed after he’d got us away from relegation threat. He left the club with fractured relationships and a lot of discontent. We were well rid of him in my view. Better than we’ve had since? Obviously, but that’s not saying much. Next doors cat couldn’t do any worse than Hurst or Lambert. |
Spot on ! | |

Demise on 10:23 - Feb 11 by bluelagos | Obviously it's rubbish now, but rubbishness is relative. So when Duncan had us playing dirge in the late 80s, the Robson years were fresh in all our memories. So that for me was a real tester of resolve. I think our attendances went under 10k too on a few occasions back then. |
A lot of people forget how poor attendances were during the mid to late 80s. The year we were relegated from the old First Division we only averaged 14.4K. The next year down in the Second Division it was only 12K, to be followed by averages of 11.7, 12.5 amd 12.7K during the Duncan era. Even Lyall’s first year was only 11.8 jumping to 14.2K in the promotion year. Contrast that with last year’s average of 19.5K in League 1 !!! [Post edited 11 Feb 2021 15:22]

Ahh, the misery of Stockport at home and plenty of others in the Duncan years. There were lots of attendances under 10k. They didn’t improve much under Lyall in his first season if memory serves me right. I never thought I’d see worse than Duncan, but Keane, Jewell Hurst and Lambert managed that with ease - especially the last two.

In our first season after relegation, 1995-96, the average home gate was only 12,500. Would be interesting to see what attendances might be now if fans were allowed in.

Only if the cashier has been 'goading' you by something utterly offensive like working a bit slowly. There's literally no justification for the way a section of fans behaved at, and I'll remind you of this, our local rivals.

During John Duncan's 3 year reign, average home League attendances were 11,800, 12,500 & 12,700.

Demise on 21:55 - Feb 10 by Churchman | McCarthy shouldn’t have done it. He should have been bigger than that and should have been fired on the spot. |
No he should have admitted what he did and pointed out that those giving it to him deserved it.
