He won't form his own party as that would lead to the Democrats winning easily in 2024 with the Republican/anti-establishment vote split.
The way to power in countries where there is a two party system is to take over one of the them. Trump was always a Democrat voter but knew his route to become President was taking the Republican party by storm.
I would say the chances of him getting the nomination if he runs next time are 99%.

Harris is deeply unpopular amongst Democrat voters. Look at how badly she polled in 2020.

I think it very interesting and very sad. I’m a bit puzzled as to why the Democrats went for this, when their chances of convicting were zero. Can he not be prosecuted under their normal laws for incitement? The Republicans were scared for their own careers and they were voting on a procedure that is designed for a sitting President, not an ex one. It strikes me that their constitution has a flaw, aside from allowing berks like Trump to stand in the first place. There seems to be no mechanism for dealing with a nut job. After Roosevelt died, the 2 term rule came in so somebody who’d gone barmy like FDR couldn’t do more than 8 years. I hope they bring something in so that such a disgrace of the most powerful man in the world can be held to account.

I'm not so sure. He still has a huge base of support, he may even have a proxy in place to run for it. I wouldn't bet against him, A Biden v Trump run-off (or more likely Harris v Trump) in 2024 is the most likely outcome as things stand. |
I think it'll be Paul Ryan - I've said on here before that I think his decision to resign in 2018 was done in order to distance himself from the inevitable carnage in preparation for a potential run. He's popular among the Tea Party types whilst also being respected within the Romney/Collins wing so he has the potential to put together a broad coalition. I don't think the MAGA crowd will be a massive constituency within the GOP primaries anyway - some will transfer their support to Cotton/Hawley, but because it's so cultlike, many won't even bother voting if Trump isn't on the ballot. I think it's possible that the next nominee can win the primaries without support from Trump. |  |
