The kind of performance that once upon a time on 09:33 - Feb 24 by GlasgowBlue | Speaking of form, there are now only three teams above us in the league who have better form over the last 5 games. Peterborough, Lincoln and Sunderland. |
We've also kept 4 clean sheets in 5. Careful though, these facts will set Herbs off again.

I'm not really bothered, the point is a BBC journalist didn't write it. It comprises 7 sentences, only 4 of which have anything to do with the actual game. My point is it's not a proper match report.

Imagine thinking the manager's crap after nearly two and a half years of failure.

Indeed, although stats can be misleading. For instance, over the same 5 games we are averaging less than a goal per game and I would say we were fairly lucky not to concede against Northampton. Hull also missed a virtual open goal from a skewed clearance in the first half yesterday. What do you want to happen? You've said you still want Lambert out but since then your posts have been putting a very positive spin on the last 5 matches or so. SB

On the last 5 matches or so?! That's simply not true. I said the Oxford game was much better and last night's was a joy to watch. I absolutely slated us after the Northampton 0-0. Why are you asking what I want to happen and then following it with "You've said you still want Lambert out"? I mean, you've answered your own question there!

Yeah, you're right, we've been smashing it these last 5 games. It's fine that you thought it was a "joy to watch". We just have very, very different expectation levels for our club.

The issues with Lambert are far deeper than just the football in the pitch. The isolation of Jackson and Nolan. The ban on Phil. The mood swings. Taking that aside, in our last 5 games only Northampton stands out as being absolute dross. We got a good performance and win over Blackpool. Started well against Posh before running out of steam. A decent performance against in form Oxford which could and should have been a win by a couple of goals, and last nights win against 3rd placed Hull. I would still be very surprised if we didn’t make top six by the end of the season, regardless of who is manager.

Flip side is that we’ve only scored 4 in those 5 games, including 2 blanks. One of the games we did score in we lost We also only got 8 points from those games which is good enough for under 74 points over a season. This would only just scrape into the playoffs in 6 of the last 10 seasons and miss on the other 4 (inc last season based on PPG). The PPG of 1.6 would also not put us in the playoffs this season Obviously it was nice to finally get a win against one of the bigger sides and if we can use it as a platform then great, but let’s not pretend that current form is suddenly excellent. In fact it’s basically a 2 game run of acceptable performances which resulted in a 0-0 draw and a 1-0 win, which is hardly champagne popping time EDIT: started writing this about 30 mins ago before getting distracted with work, so hadn’t seen Stokie has already made basically the same point [Post edited 24 Feb 2021 10:31]

I'd agree it's hardly champagne popping time. Don't think anyone's suggested otherwise. I was surprised myself when a mate texted we'd kept 4 clean sheets in 5, so I shared. Prior to these two games it's been absolute dross, so I'm not getting carried away and still want Lambert out. In fact I'm off to the postbox now with my 3 daily red cards. I'm writing on them "Don't let a one-nil win against Hull paper over the cracks."

The kind of performance that once upon a time on 09:47 - Feb 24 by The_Flashing_Smile | Haha, you are so fooking desperate. Before the game they were expected to slaughter us. Now we've won and played very well it's total revisionism and they weren't that good after all. The BBC match report is one of the briefest match reports I've ever seen. It's not even written by the BBC ("supplied to the BBC by PA Media", whoever they are) and there is very little detail about the game. Try reading a proper report, or listening to what people are saying on here, rather than this desperate straw-clutching. Lambert out. |
I said before the game that they aren't that good and their form has been basically midtable since beating us at PR. You can go and check if you like, no revisionism needed. I'm listening to the views of sensible posters, like Stokie for example, rather than the hysterical ramblings I'm seeing from some others.

Do you trust Joe Fairs? Have a watch of the Blue Monday podcast from last night. I only caught the end but he was similarly praising of the performance. There's certainly nothing hysterical about my view of the game. The views on Hull pre-game I was talking about were the general consensus (including mates who aren't on here).

You can't accuse me of revisionism when I've pointed out after the game something I also pointed out before the game, regardless of what other people were saying.
