The Brexiteers were right, we did hold all the cards and it was perfectly possible to leave all of the institutions of the EU and have things carry on as normal.

I'm not too worried. The German car manufacturers will speak up any moment now and force the EU to give us everything we want.

David Frost has already blamed it on the EU, rather than the sh1t deal that he and the government negotiated.

Also the French wine industry, I have noticed a vast reduction in the number of wines from the France section of supermarkets, particularly in the £10 - £20 price range. I have diverted my attention to South America and found some really good Chilean and Argentinian red wine.

They spent years blaming the EU for domestic problems when we were in the EU, we shouldn't be surprised that they continue to blame the EU for domestic problems now we've left. They can milk this for years before people start to clock that we left some time ago and it's hard to see how we've still not got out of the sh!t storm.

Once Macron sees this - he posts on here as blueas - I'm sure we'll see some pretty swift backtracking from the EU.

Wishful thinking that Herbs. The state of the economy is still "Labour's fault" according to some of the cabinet.

Just voting for wolves in wolves' clothing.

In the middle of two recessions is probably not the best time to leave the world's most affluent trading bloc, comrade.

But we shall see how this 'short-term pain' works out soon.

A lot of people won't. The most they'll encounter will be occasional issues with supply or having to pay import duties on goods they thought they were getting cheap from online orders coming from the EU. It's almost as if the EU weren't controlling every aspect of our lives.

Those whose lifestyles or livelihoods were interwoven with the EU are having problems though. It's dominated work for me for the last 4 years and has hammered our bottom line (I'm having to change jobs atm as a result, as are many others).

It's been a thoroughly unpleasant 4-5 years. A perfect storm of disinvestment in facilities and services, Brexit, toxic immigration policies and then Covid on top. All bad, all adversely affecting social relationships and the economy, and all self-inflicted except for Covid (and the poor response to that has been self-inflicted as well).

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?

I haven't noticed any difference because all our overseas staff leaving and massive problems replacing and retaining said replacements has been going on for nearly five years now in the NHS thanks to 52% of the population being short-sighted innumerate xenophobic thickos.

Yeh, the impacts in relation to overseas staff for us started as soon as we had the referendum. And our med school felt the hit when the nurses lost their training grants too of course.

Our next problem will be with overseas students. We're giving all EU students bursaries this year to bring their fees down home student levels (which is what they paid before we left the EU). Next year I think they'll be on full international fees which will hammer numbers (we can't afford to keep subsidising the government's feck ups). It's a bit of a sh*tshow.
