Poll: Is it too soon to sack Hurst?

I videod it on my phone off the laptop screen. So far I've held off making it into a gif out of respect for a decent bloke who I believe is an intelligent footballer who reads the game very well.

But that was his Douglas-esque game.

The kindest thing that could be said is "not yet regained match sharpness". "Sadly off the pace" is not unduly harsh.

It was always going to be a long way back for him. Anyone would struggle to come back from a serious injury and a long layoff in the twilight of their career. I suppose he can only get match fit by playing though. It could take him a while to get up to speed, if he ever does at all.

Hang on ! 1st goal for Fleetwood and he was the closest one to Connolly and didn't make any effort to fight for the ball. That 'fight' for the ball would have been a simple leap to try to head the ball away. Basic elementary thing. No excuses.

And he said couple of days ago that top 2 was within reach. How can he waffle a crap like that when he himself doesn't even try to do a basic thing on the pitch?

Be prepared for his annual 'apologies' come May for yet another dismal ITFC season. That's all what he does just sounding nicely in the interviews.

To expect a 48 year old to come in after a year out was always a bit of an ask. I think to be fair to Cook, he recognises Bishop & Dozzell doesn't work as a 2, and in the absence of Downes he opted to start Skuse who bless him looked way off it. Alongside Dozzell you can't really afford to be off it, you need to be full of running or we look pedestrian.

Personally I would've put Judge in the middle and given him the remit to do Dozzell's dirty work and protect the back 4, to stop them playing. We lacked energy in there, it was like watching those games we had Huws in there. That would've opened up the wide role for Bishop, or even Parrott on the right with Bishop in the 10 and Edwards left.

I see you're already laying the ground work for being able to say you never rated Cook. Excellent stuff.

Nope. I rate him generally. He's done really well in the lower leagues and he's got one promotion from this league, which bodes well.

But I'm not going to join in with the love-in until I actually see something constructive other than words for us. So far, there's nothing to be impressed by on the pitch. Caveated with the fact there's not been much time, but nonetheless.

'there's nothing to be impressed by on the pitch'

You can't turn a water into the wine right away. He has to work with the mob of utter wasters who weren't bothered to fight for the survival in the Championship, they got clapped and cheered by SBR despite going down without a fight and hunger, who finished 11th last season and don't seem to be worth wearing the shirt. Some of them keep waffling same old crap in the interviews but that what they say hasn't been transferred on the pitch.

It's a nice, smashing, cosy Ipswich for these wasters. No pressure.

Cook’s record is one win, one draw and two defeats. That’s a win ratio of 25% which is disgraceful. His signings have been woeful and he hasn’t attracted the crowds back. Booooo!!!!

He has lost the dressing room. He should be sacked now!

We should be looking for a solid, top level manager like Megson or Pulis. Or that bloke who played for Celtic. Lambertino wasn’t it?

Meanwhile, back on planet earth ......

was it ever, him falling over in the center circle... i would've laughed if it wasn't so tragic.

I agree he can't, but then again there is probably a hundred examples where a new manager has come in after an apparent awful manager who everyone hated and been able to generate some sort of instant turnaround. They tend to only be tempoary but so far seen nothing.

Lmao at all the people who said Skuse coming back would improve us. Guy is an old man who should just retire.

Whoever is in midfield always seems to be having to cover for Dozzell and his many weaknesses.

Powder puff player, maybe would look good with better players around him, but we don't have them which makes Dozzell a luxury we can't afford.

Again ! That is how horrible our mob is that you have seen nothing. Yesterdays game is a prime example.

Still though you hear this bollox and fooling us:

Fit-again midfielder Cole Skuse is not only confident his injury problems are firmly behind him but also that he can play a part in Town winning automatic promotion back to the Championship in a few weeks’ time. 30

Maybe so, but he was our ‘best’ midfielder in the first half last night.

He wasn't. He was pretty much the worst player on the pitch.

Possibly. If you exclude Dozzell, Judge, Edwards, Harrop, Kenlock, Parrott....

Including all those (well, Kenlock was worse second half). Dozzell was far more involved, gave the ball away less, made more defensive contributions, way more attacking ones.

It's bizarre how people let their faves and villains colour what's literally happening in front of their eyes.
