Quite. It doesn't matter how fit or not someone is, they can't be in two places at once. Obviously you want people in those roles who are fit enough to keep going flat out for 90 minutes, but even the fittest attacking fullback needs to be covered when they go forward. |  |

No. They're experienced enough to know when they can or shouldn't get forward. Our problems have been the midfielders not helping our fullbacks out when we are attacked. It happens weekly. [Post edited 19 Mar 2021 21:42]

I think we might just have to accept this for a while.
He clearly said yesterday that Chambers had done a good job but was a CB and that going forward we need two full backs who can "penetrate" on the wings.
Clearly KVY is one but he will be looking to buy a LB or checking on Nydam because Kenlock isn't that player.

To be honest, I'd still rather have Chambers than either, just at the moment.
KVY is not yet back up to speed, Matheson is young, inexperienced and a bit lightweight (as evidenced by the errors he made in the games he did play).
Chambers has stamina plus remarkable energy for a player of his age, is not easily pushed over, does enjoy getting forward and can put in a decent angled long ball or cross. He's not that fast and can be caught out of position. By no means perfect, but probably the best compromise we have, currently.
Plus it keeps the Captain on the pitch without splitting up the CB partnership of Wilson and N'siala. | |

I agree - but surely we can’t expect players who haven’t played for a year to suddenly appear at hit form? Yet Skuse began at Fleetwood and KVY is on the bench today. If a defender goes down before the 75th minute...
Skuse I sort of understand, in a desperation kind of way. Cook knows what we need but doesn’t have the options to answer it unless really taking a risk, such as trying a centre back out of position. KVY, when we have Matheson and Woolfenden kicking their heels, less so at this stage - especially as he appears to be made of glass. | |
