By that, I don’t mean those two in particular, but PC obviously doesn’t think our midfield has enough bite and that’s stopping him playing two upfront.

is there a more fragile powder puff central midfield pairing in world football on 17:10 - Mar 20 by Chrisd | I'm putting sentiment aside. Dozzell doesn't influence games enough for me and Bishop had a terrific impact in 2014/15, but injuries have really hampered him. I've said this before, but I'm not sure what our midfield offers? They don't create, tackle, dominant the opponents and rarely get beyond the striker to score goals. We've got a lot of sentiment with a lot of those players in midfield because they are youth products, but sadly they just don't deliver consistently enough. They are still players with potential, but the problem is they aren't young players any more they are men, but don't play like it. |
i think they have more to offer, i think both can fit cook's model. doz needs to play regular with a downes-type player who will do his share of breaking up play and leave doz more leeway to get the passing game going bish could do a similar role, but will be better in the more advanced role, he's shown in the first part of the season that he has goals in his locker. both need a run of games in these positions, i think cook will settle down the team as he gets to know them, and these two will be in it

Bish and Doz are both no10 type players IMHO. Why Doz thinks he's a deeper midfield player is absolutely beyond me. As I said, we can have one of them, but I don't think we can have both.

Neither would be the best solution.

Agreed 100%. And that’s the problems Cook faces every day at this club, yet some fans are expecting Miracles aren’t they. Nothing will happen this season. In many ways I’d not want to make those play offs because we will ripped a new one, by teams far hungrier than our lot. It’d be embarrassing.

Totally - this was never a dig at Cook. Cook is the coach we’ve need for a long time and will build something in his own vision like Burley. I genuinely would be happy to release most of this squad and let Cook replace them with well considered free transfers. In the current climate it could actually be done and Appleton has proved it can be done effectively.

i think doz could play as a 10, but i think his range of passing means he's better as a deeper midfield player launching our attacks. whether we have the players to fit this is another question...

A number 10 chips in with goals. That aint Dozz. I imagine he sees himself as a Pirlo which is not really of much value in L1

is there a more fragile powder puff central midfield pairing in world football on 17:09 - Mar 20 by jaykay | remember when hurst didn't pick him the board was in uproar. his dad wasn't happy and not shy in letting everyone know it. none of the midfield have any energy. arrive to late to help out the forwards and just arrive in the 18 yard box as the opponents score,. if you want someone to patrol the centre circle those 2 are your men |
I actually find Andre quite lazy, he never really seems to get going, you never really see him stretch his legs, or bust a gut to get back, he just floats around

Yep sorry, didn't see that Andre may go onto better things, but it's not what we 'need' at the club at the moment It might work higher up in a side where he can just roam around, not get involved off the ball and then just pop a ball over the top for someone to chase after, but we need more.

Neither of them score or create chances People laugh at Skuse but I’d play him in front of both of them Downes is our only decent midfielder
