And loving the logo and the slogan.

Just like UKIP (but without the xenophobia and fake news about EU) there’s value in outflanking Westminster political parties despite having no real chance to win power at that level. But they can certainly lose the Hartlepool by-election for a moribund and clueless Labour. And hopefully provide some proper representation for the people of Liverpool.

If it can help drive a more devolved approach to the English regions and better political representation then NIP will have done a great job.

Brexit should be done but very few people are willing yet to move on and even fewer to admit the whole thing is a clusterfcuk they were conned into supporting.

They know it continues to play well with much of the electorate so the tories will continue refighting the battles from 2016 and Labour still haven’t figured out how to react.

I agree with you that the candidate’s view on Brexit should have been irrelevant but unfortunately LL is right, it wasn’t.

I had to chuckle that you put “ very few people are willing yet to move on” and “admit the whole thing is a clusterfcuk they were conned into supporting” in the same sentence.

By typing the former the. Surely you are guilty of the latter? 😉

It’s amazing how few people get this (not aimed at you GB)
Until or unless Labour are utterly full throated in their support for Brexit/an independent Britain they will stay in the wilderness

So labour’s position is the issue rather than the candidate’s own voting record in the referendum?

M14 blue is a decent poster, one of the more balanced on here, I enjoy reading what he has to say.

However his post is quite incredible as it highlights why Brexiters (the very people voting yesterday) are sick and tired of the deluded left and self righteous remainers.

"Brexit should be done but very few people are willing yet to move on and even fewer to admit the whole thing is a clusterfcuk they were conned into supporting"

I mean, 7000 majority is beyond massive.

Absolutely, my point is that brexit is still a massive issue on all sides, you were saying it wasn’t.

Brexit will make my life worse and my daughter’s life worse.

I will not be forgetting or forgiving the people who orchestrated it (not the people who voted for it).

TBF, I’m not running for election in Hartlepool and am just writing what I actually think on a football forum, not worrying overly about the sensibilities of some snowflakes in Hartlepool.

As I said in reply to Chico, I don’t think the voting record of the individual candidate played a part in Labour’s defeat. You could have put Dennis Skinner up in Hartlepool and it would have made no difference.

Yeah, I think you’re right tbf.

It did give the tories some easy ammunition though.

But all those who voted the Tories in yesterday didn't necessarily do it just because they had a remainer candidate although that will have played a part, they also did it because they are sick of their friends and neighbours saying similar things to you.

Yet you support Scottish independence despite the same financial arguments you have made for 5 years regarding the UK leaving the EU, apllying doubly for Scotland leaving the UK.

How do you square that circle?

Then they should stop being so precious.

If they’re really voting for things that will make their lives worse because some annoying person was a bit annoying then they really are idiots.

I prefer not to infantilise them and treat them as people who, like me, should be capable of informed choices and able to accept when they’ve fcuked up.

It's also patently boll0cks what Lucan is saying. Hartlepool was around 70% in favour of leave, so I'm not sure how all of these people have a circle of neighbours and friends who are lefty remainers telling them they're wrong and winding them up so that they go and vote Tory. It doesn't stand up to any scrutiny. It's an easy line to trot out so that those who were and continue to be duped don't have to take any responsibility for it.

Basically, Lucan doesn't like remainers pointing out that people were foolish to be taken in by Brexit, but he's happy to think those same people are foolish and petty enough to vote solely to spite said remainers (even when there's no real evidence of that being the case).

Leaving a small, dying union to be an independent country that will ultimately be part of a larger more successful union. It's not really comparing like for like.

Err, you are talking to a remainer.

You are also talking a load of waffle.

I'll back out of this as I don't want to get into an argument, it's a bit early in the day.

I'm off for a sh1t and a bath.

I honestly don’t think that’s true, although probably everyone would say that.

I’m not some EU zealot, I don’t much care for the organisation and wouldn’t have classed myself as a particularly passionate remainer.

However, I do think that it was patently obvious that Brexit would harm the country that I love and the people I love who live in it.

Now it’s increasingly becoming clear that all of ‘Project Fear’ was not only true but probably an underestimate, I don’t understand why I should suddenly pretend it’s all a great idea to save the feelings of the 52%.

Labour need to find a way to walk that tightrope, I don’t.
