It wasn't 'form' - most metrics of form cover 6 games at least. There was a slight upturn because Lambert was off, but look how poor we were in the 3 games before those 3. Look at the overall picture of the season. We have a poor team, that's it, and that's not Cook's fault. Digging him out now is massively premature.
Look at it this way - are we so crap at the moment because the manager is crap or because the players are crap? Look at historical evidence, and then take your pick. What's more likely? |

Since Cook has been in charge we'd be 20th, and even if you stop before the takeover it would be 15th. No matter what part of Lamberts tenure, we have never had a sustained period of form that is that awful. That's not to say it wasn't bad, more concerning that it has got worse.
It's one thing to want to have a clear out, and Cook may well be the man for that. However seeing him try and get something out of the team at his disposal compared to before then is pretty worrying. | |

You can cherrypick any runs of games to prove anything. It's pointless though, because Lambert, as I've said, has trained these players for 2.5 years... and didn't have a takeover going on in the background.

OP. Try putting yourself in PC’s shoes for just one moment if you can. You arrive at a new club full of enthusiasm for the task in hand. The prospect of promotion at that point was very achievable.
Then you meet “ the squad”...that's nearly FIFTY Players. Many of whom had been taking a wage without needing to do anything except turn up up for a little run around for an hour a day , for the last 3 years. Nothing was expected of them, ever.
So, the New manager comes in, and ups the tempo of the game. Expects players to work hard in training. Changes the training to twice daily.
The Wake up call gong booms loud and clear in the ears of the unwashed.
“ The squad” downs tools........” he can feck off, if he thinks I’m busting a gut, for him. I don’t know if I’ll even get my contract renewed”.....” when am I going to hear about my new contract”......”Christ, it looks like these new owners are going to change EVERYTHING. Doesn’t look like I’m part if it”.......”.bust a gut for 2 hours, twice a day in training now!!! ? He can feck off” .....” why can’t things stay as they were ?” ....” where’s my new contract?” ....” why should I bust a gut on the pitch , they’re going to sack me in June.” .....” he can feck right off” .

My reply tho is as I've said following recent games. There has been lots of positives to take if you care to see them. So he question of man management hasnt imo been an issue.
The reason I mentioned the HT sat is people like yourself question his lack of tactical change. Man management the works etc. However he swapped it up nicely saturday on all fronts. Sadly once again our players despite getting into some promising positions failed to get their shots off. And Edwards went on a rugby conversion spree. | |
