I'm told Connolly is one they want a lot and Evans is unsurprisingly one PC wants here given their history. Conor McAleny I'm told they're keen but not sure how high up the list of potential strikers he is, so to speak.

As I've said, I think they want to try to recruit as if we're a Championship club as much as they can. However, I think they'll find it tough to do that given the limitations of the SCMP. If we're competing with Championship clubs they'll win wages-wise as they're not operating within the same constraints.

Surely though if we wanted to, we could just increase our turnover very easily when it comes to the books.

They can as long as it's not as loans. Not sure what the new owners' thinking on this is. I think they were asked about it in the podcast but can't remember what was said. I assume they wouldn't say that publicly as everyone would know what's available for wages is higher than would otherwise be the case.

If I'm reading that correctly, the wages of any player that comes through the academy doesn't count towards the SCMP cap at all - surely that makes it nonsensical to let decent academy players leave?

Edit: ah, read it wrong, they have to be from the academy and also u20.
