Is anyone concerned.... 14:21 - May 27 with 5154 views | OriginalMarkyP | That pre-season starts in 4.5 weeks time? Every manager ever says you want to have the vast majority of your squad in place for the start of pre-season to bed players in and get them familiar with the playing style you are going to expect them to play. I would think that would be doubly true of a squad where more than half of them are new signings. Is it really realistic to expect Cook to get all the players (and the quality of players) he wants in that time? Given that we're going to be competing with Championship clubs to sign them as we are led to believe. I honestly struggle to see it happening. [Post edited 27 May 2021 14:22]

Is anyone concerned.... on 14:46 - May 27 by OriginalMarkyP | In our entire history have we ever told 99% of the squad to get lost 2/3 days after our last game? No chill. |
I hear you. I’m still not even slightly concerned. If ME was still here I would be. But as our CEO hasn’t even started yet I’m enjoying a few weeks of ITFC carefree

More challenging with players of course, but the new owners, Chairman, and soon CEO look like they mean business, have a plan, and don't hang about. Lets also not lose sight that our squad needed culling. The guillotine has been a refreshing change, to pushing the same peas around the plate, and adding the odd half eaten carrot. Is anyone concerned.... on 15:08 - May 27 by BlueWorldOrder | My only concern is with Rhodes, Waghorn, Defoe, Bradley and others all turning us down we might end up with egg on our faces next season if we put together a weaker squad than the one we released. We can't match 3 teams in this league for wages, let alone the Championship sides. We are taking a huge risk. This also reminds me far too much of Hurst when he pointed out what Cook has, and put a sledgehammer through the team and demoralized the club. People cheered Hurst for much the same at the time and this is looking the same to me but I will try and stay positive. We've certainly loaded our back room with Cooks mates, so here is hoping we're aren't just turning into a Liverpool mates club and he's actually made this appointments to make a difference. Although hiring Jeffers is reprehensible in my view. |
I like how you start with "my only concern is..." and then list a load of them, most of which are nonsense. 1. No evidence we were seriously trying to get any of those players bar Bradley. 2. "if we put together a weaker squad than the one we released" - well that's just silly and not very likely. 3. "We can't match 3 teams in this league for wages" - which teams? Utter nonsense. 4. People didn't cheer Hurst for all his signings... and this isn't remotely comparable because he was signing League 1 and 2 players. 5. Every manager's backroom is made up of people he knows. 6. Of course he's "actually made these appointments to make a difference." Do you think he'd get rubbish people in and ruin his own job?! "I will try and stay positive." Try harder, mate.

Is anyone concerned.... on 19:42 - May 27 with 731 views | J2BLUE | Just 4.5 weeks?!?!?! That's only about 31 days!!!!!!! Panic!!!!!!!!!1111!!!!1 Seriously, chill out. We have no idea if we have deals agreed in principle with out of contract clubs or fees agreed to go through in early June. I won't even begin to be concerned until the Euros are over. Obviously the Euros will have zero impact on our recruitment but it's time we dropped this in by pre season myth. It's a perfect world scenario which NEVER happens for any club. If we've got even half of what we need by the end of the Euros we will have done well. The window closes at the end of August. You're panicking in May. May. Time to change your expectations to expectations based in reality and not manager talk.

This isn't key hole, it's major surgery of the squad. Recovery time will take longer, so please everybody just calm down. It will be worth the wait.

Geez , I can’t take many more like the OP. Listening to Andros Townsend on Talksport today, out of contract and as Palace don’t have a manager he does not know if he will be offered anything . So he has told his agent to see what offers he can get . He already has a couple.... but his direct quote was ‘ as long as I am sorted by July 1st , I will be happy ‘ Now most players are having downtime at the moment after a manic season, and have got their agents doin exactly the same as Andros ... So nothing much is likely to happen for a few weeks yet.

You hear "Math" every day (shudder), along with the constant disparaging of King George and the poor English settlers, when everyone knows it was us who was betrayed by the Americans! Propaganda I tells ya. |
