If we're chatitng about the same woman / game (Spain v Croatia?) then her accent was a surprise, but we need to get over this sort of thing (me too), so good!
I liked the way she stoud her ground on Morata having a good game. She also had plenty of insight on the tactics which were well over my head, so job well done, I'd say.

For me it's just been a question of getting used to female rather male football commentators, after 50 years of hearing only male voices in the game. No idea why, but I do generally prefer lower rather than higher register voices, maybe something to do with my physical hearing.
Anyway, now I've got used to them, am enjoying them - I really love hearing that Scouse (not everybody's cuppa I know) lass in particular. | |

Hmm, I can see his point. A respectful way to phrase it would have been "the female commentator" or something along those lines. "This Woman" certainly made me feel that her gender was a big part of your discontent.
I must also agree with many of the other commentators. Emma Hayes has been a decent co-commentator but her accent does rather grate on me.
Also, her pronunciation of Azpilicueta was correct. We have just got very used to people pronouncing it incorrectly. |

Fair enough. I would like to think I wouldn't judge anyone on that basis, certainly. There are accents I'll admit to prefer listening to though, and ones I don't so much. I think, to Ryorry's point, there's an element of being used to certain accents and perhaps the familiarity and even reminisce that they bring.
