Arvin Appiah - An Insight 19:52 - Jul 5 with 6001 viewsTomTheWriter

Researching Arvin Appiah was similar to researching Keanan Bennetts. And, they both share a lot of similarities.

If you are wanted by Manchester United, Arsenal, Almeria etc. then you undoubtedly have talent. Looks like he was a shining light for the Nottingham Forest U23 team, at the age of 17/18. England international all the way to U19. Almeria move didn't work out how he would have liked, but it feels like someone who has untapped ability waiting to be unleashed.

Type of deal unknown to me, I just like to analyse the player for us all to discuss. Exciting winger with pace to burn. We've heard that before, sometimes goes bad, but sometimes comes good.

Harry didn't promote his own site.

He wrote stuff for his own and our amusement on TWTD.

I think the point to focus on here is that it's wrong to pile on the OP, who seems very decent.

I guess, although I don't see the need to mention Harry and he did contribute directly to the site, so it's not unfair to point out the site's blog facility as an option.

Also, I miss Harry's contributions and would hate any comments to put him off from returning some day.

Edited. Sorry Vic, it was unfair to edit before checking your response!

I see what you’re saying but I don’t sense this guy is simply self promoting etc. I’m not seeing advertising on his website so there’s no profiteering going on. It looks to me like he’s someone interested 8n journalism and runs a website to express what he does.

But hey, I’m not his apologist and if his posts, linked to an external sites are outside the ethos of the site then I’m OK with Phil taking them down. Personally I don’t see the problem and find his research helpful. I also like the way he engages as a normal board member.

I would like to point out I haven't criticised him. I have only said Harry isn't a reasonable comparison.

People seem increasingly unable or unwilling to accurately distinguish between *actual* chancers & wind-up merchants and genuine, well-intentioned posters. It's noticeable.

Yes, this is the key point. An awful lot of noise at present, much of it pure attention seeking, but there is genuine insight that adds to the board and the general ITFC discussion.

Yes, imagine Ipswich Town fans posting thoughts on potential Ipswich signings on an Ipswich Town forum eh. Sickening

Seems to be the nature of this forum at times, recently.

Seems to be a small number of posters who have got the hump lately with people posting too many things about football, rather than rehashing the same tedious political argument every single day. Fortunately most of them have now f**ked off

Probably from the fact they both like to write interesting blogs on Ipswich Town and share with us? Not a massive jump is it.

You mean Harryfrombath - the guy who used the blog function of TWTD? No I didn't, because he used the blog function of TWTD.

When it was clear there was a big interest in Harry's blogs, he worked closely with Phil on when to release the material via the front page news, to gain the maximum number of views for his work, site and consequently site revenue.

Think you are being far too stern here, it's not a great look and not really an occasion when the board needs this level of policing, leave the OP alone.

If TWTD have a problem with it they'll police it as they see fit.

Im really not excited by this target. Lets face it no one knew who he was before it was mentioned. 8 million for a kid who had played 6 games ? Thats just ridiculous. Doesnt make any sense. He doesnt look robust enough for league 1 footie. Id sooner we concentrate on getting a centre half in the door with some experience.

Think the transfer fee shocked Forest fans, and probably Almeria fans as well. There very recent takeover just before the signing definitely contributed to it, but was always going to be a bad move. Think he is 3rd or 4th choice in the list for wingers, probably behind Celina, Jacobs and maybe one other.

CB definitely the priority right now. Hopeful Gibson in, and then we can look for the perfect experienced option to help him and Woolfenden.
