I'm not talking about his entire time with us. Everything what happened in the relegation season has been my main subject.

The season in which we didn't speak to him about a new contract until 6 months before his deal was due to expire despite him being one of our few proven Championship players?

Someone please do the right thing and throw the towel in on behalf of mach. He isn't capable of putting up a defence and this will get messy

He was still paid by the club so there is no excuse for such bad performances he had and bad attitude. In 'fairness' though others lost their interest too. Add to thid an inability of two awful managers so no wonder it all ended up disastrously.

I don't agree regarding his attitude. He always seemed to be a good pro. Mick generally signed good pros.

Just casually drop that subject line and watch the mayhem, I see what you've done here.

He was ok. Thought his ambition never really matched his performances for us, but then as others have said he did follow two future England internationals, so maybe my perspective was a bit skewed.

He's one of those players folk love to drag up on here to create an argument. He was a bit of a big time charlie, but good luck to him.

Wanted away to bigger things before his performances had earned it, in my humble opinion. Didn't we stop playing him for the last few months of his contract because he was forcing a move? Can't remember the exact circumstances, I'm sure you'll set me right.

Weird what kind of players start a row round here. Knudsen was fine, nothing more, nothing less. If his final year and departure hadn't coincided with us utterly tanking (and all the attendant recriminations), he'd get as many mentions as Jonny Parr.

He didn't want away to bigger things. He came back from the World Cup the summer before his deal was up and rather than us sensibly looking to offer him new terms - as we did with Bart - Hurst made a big show about him having to earn it, despite him having done a good job for 3 years already in a Town shirt. By the time Lambert arrived we'd still not offered him terms and by then we looked pretty doomed. I doubt any of us at that stage with an international career to think about would have entertained singing a new deal with a League 1 bound club that hadn't showed much interest in keeping us. He didn't want away, we let him drift away.

Yes. His performances for example.

Moreover Lambert was forced to look for a loan left back in Jan window because there was a reason for that.

He did relegate us along with the rest of that hopeless mob.

Lost connection but I had written something about how Hurst's management of both Bialkowski and Knudsen was awful. It clearly was not their attitude before or after and yet Hurst really got the worst out of both of them.

To suggest that either of them left or put in poor performances because their attitude was wrong really does not bear the weight of evidence.

I know you're trying your best to defend him but he kept sulking throughout the season and I don't need to copy any other aforementioned factors from my previous posts.

He was a disgrace so was the rest of the team who downed the tools.

What evidence do you have that he was sulking? Poor performances don't mean he had a bad attitude. That team was utterly bereft of confidence and ability, that doesn't mean they had poor attitudes. I think we all know where these views are coming from but they don't really stand up to much scrutiny.

I've already told you. He had been sulking ever since that 'famous' press conference as he seemed a completely different player.

'That team was utterly bereft of confidence and ability'........they got what they wanted FFS ! They wanted Evans to sack Hurst, it happened and they still lacked a drive and desire. Even Bialkowski in his interview said that Lambert seemed optimistic about our survival chances but the team downed the tools.

Each player from that team ought to have been kicked out of the club following that spineless relegation. But they got clapped and cheered. Blaming managers 100% is the easiest option for some.

He didn't say they downed tools, that's how you've rewritten it. He said they lacked belief they could stay up, which is quite a different thing. Knudsen didn't sulk, again that's you making stuff up to suit your narrative. This is all really bizarre to be honest.

Yes he said they had given up and downed the tools.

What evidence you've got that his attitude was fine then?

Your obsession with anyone/anything related to mccarthy is quite bizarre but that bunch of losers got us relegated without a fight.

His performances weren’t great but the whole squad was atrocious - very odd to single him out on that one

As for bringing in Elder, Knudsen had indicated he wasn’t going to sign a new deal so Lambert made a big song and dance about how he wasn’t going to play someone that wasn’t going to be at the club beyond the end of the season. Before laughably bringing in a loan to replace him, and then putting Knudsen back in the side anyway when Elder turned out to be cack

No idea how any of that indicates Knudsen had a bad attitude? 🤷🏻‍♂️

Who said that Knudsen and Bialkowski had downed tools? This appears like a narrative you have chosen rather than any that Hurst gave.

Bialkowski said that about the team in one his final interviews. Moreover he said that Lambert had been the person who was probably most optimistic about our survival chances.

Interestingly, to give some idea of how poor Knudsen's attitude was and how much it affected the team:

He was dropped to the bench (and did not feature for two games) before being dropped entirely on 29th December. Without him in the side we lost 5 matches and won one (vs Rotherham who were 21st). On his return to the side, we lost 1 and drew 3. He got sent off in the 3rd of those draws and we lost the match he was suspended for (Reading 21st in the league). We drew with West Brom (4th place) on his return before he was dropped again for an ineffective run-in.

The evidence is that we were worse with him out of the side. That does not look like a player who had downed tools and whose attitude stunk. Knudsen sent a message thanking fans for their support when he left. I am quite sure that he would have considered signing a contract for us if we were a team in the top half of the Championship. Both Hurst and Lambert managed him out of the club not the other way round.
