Seen some debate from fellow two wheeled users whether our usual station queue jumping is acceptable when it comes to the current petrol queues.
Obviously tempers are high and the usual resignation/shrug from car drivers might be replaced with confrontation if we are seen to be taking the mick.
The justifications given are that
1. We only have a short range so need fuel like every 130 odd miles. 2. We are filling up like £15 vs £80 for a car 3. By jumping the queue we rarely hold anyone up. (We can usually use a pump not being used as we can manoeuvre in/out cars and pumps where cars can't) 4. You are sitting in cars with A/C and a radio...we are sitting boiling out tits off and breathing in your fumes.
So Twtd car users...Would you expect a motorbike to join the back of a long petrol queue?
And would you challenge one who nipped in to fuel up?
Personally I wouldn't be particularly irked by that, however, think there would be a fair amount of motorists who feel differently.
Honestly a clown car could cut in front of me, 11 brightly dressed passengers and a smoking chimpanzee get out and perform a routine and I wouldn't care as long as I find a petrol station that actually has some fuel. I'm going to try again this evening but I'm losing hope, and if I can't get any then my week's plans are busted.
People will blame the media for whipping up the original issues, but the government have been characteristically bumbling in their efforts to resolve this and the general public have yet again shown how greedy and selfish they can be.
Having thought about it for a while, the next car I buy will definitely be electric, which I suppose is a silver lining.

Should be fine by the weekend. Queues in NE Essex/South Suffolk were slightly better today, and news reporting same.
Couple more days and should all be pretty much as normal I reckon.

I see no valid reason for a motorbike to not queue
1. They won't hold you up (assuming they use an unused pump) 2. Making them queue adds to the congestion / length of queue. 3. Making them queue adds to your wait (See No 1) 4. Making them queue adds to the Co2 emissions from their needlessly queuing. 5. Making them queue will cause them to inhale lots of fumes from motorists. 6. Motorcycles, as well as causing less congestion, also pollute less. They (like other environmentally friendly modes of transport) should be encouraged.
There's a few of the reasons some bikers put forward normally. Of course assumes that they can grab an unused pump which may not always be possible.

Why would a car not use unused pumps?
Cos they can't get to them. Happens a lot for my fills, usually there are cars queuing up to get to a side where they fill up and they block entry to the other side.
Other times it might be cos they are say Diesel in front pumps and petrol in back ones. Two Diesel cars in a row and the back pump isn't being used.
And when someone leaves pump 1 but car behind car at pump 2 can't get through to pump 1.

So if you ran past a line of 15 cars to get to the front of the queue at my local Sainsbury’s where they are directing cars/vehicles to the pumps to ensure there are no “unused pumps” would you then go and join the back of the queue?
Assuming you don’t try the old “but I only want £15 worth” sob story

Sounds like trying desperately hard to justify something that you know is wrong.

Out of interest, do you object when you see a biker riding down the middle of two lines of stationary traffic to get past queuing cars that are going nowhere fast? (Say at an approach to traffic lights or a busy roundabout)

No I move to the side to give them room. That aren't trying to get a product in high demand that others are dutifully queuing for though
What about a coffee drive through? Should they skip that queue too?

I think you're probably right, and I'll be glad when it's all back to normal - my only concern at the moment is that I'm not going to be able to get any before midday tomorrow and therefore will be having to cancel plans. The biggest problem at the moment seems to be people posting online as soon as a petrol station has been refuelled, sparking a rush, leading to them running out just a couple of hours later.

Are you on Merseyside or in Suffolk?
Merseyside - I will tour the usual suspects again while the football is on tonight and if all else fails I'll throw a hail mary and try the Wirral. I do think the situation is getting better, I'm just getting unlucky with the timings

Banning pensioners seems extremely unreasonable to me. Petrol-guzzlers like 4x4 should be banned though, as well as anybody who flies an England flag.
Did you know that displaying a GB sticker whilst driving in the EU is now banned. You have to display a UK sticker. That was not an EU decision but the UK govt. Seems they don't consider us 'Great' enough anymore. We could have said it stood for Global Britain but I think we're quietly retiring that idea.
I read that as 'burning pensioners', and that seemed fine to me. Although a waste of fuel
Would motorcyclists do it normally if there wasn’t a fuel shortage? Personally, I think it’s out of order if you think it’s acceptable. We are all there queuing for the same reason: motorbike, car or van etc…There’s no excuse for queue jumping, it creates more anger and tension on the forecourt and if anything it’s being rather selfish to think or act otherwise.
