I genuinely don't understand why Newcastle would pay him £8m. When he took the job 2 1/2 years ago, he was "only" on £1m a year, though for some reason this then was bumped up to £2.75m. Newcastle could continue to pay him until he takes another job, although at 60, he might not want or need one.
Still small beer when compared to allowing Bruce to waste £40m (plus wages) on signing the hopeless Joelinton (6 goals in 77 games). |  |
