YouTube don’t give “free” video hosting from the kindness of their hearts.
I never said they did, but you can use the service for free to host your own video to a very large audience and even make quite a bit of money using the service.
The amount of man hours that would have gone into writing and maintaining a site like YouTube is substantial.

This stuff happens all the time with all sorts of Accounts on YouTube. What has usually happened is some dingus has seen something and flagged it incorrectly which immediately blocks the accounts and then it's an absolute pain going through Google's customer support (if you can even call it that) to get the account reinstated.
I'd wait and see what has happened before getting too wound up about it.
However, it is a private company and they do not owe anyone free video hosting (which is ludicrously expensive).

And it looks like I was right, someone maybe a mistake.

Although, if that is the case, there should be some protection from it. The size of a channel and its broadcasting levels should be balanced against complaints - a small one maybe should be temporarily blocked for investigation after one complaint, but the bigger the channel, the more complaints should be required for a temporary suspension while investigated.
There's lots YouTube could do to sort out this sort of thing, any smaller channels on their have no hope of getting their channels back outside of getting YouTube's attention through larger channels.

Arf! What, and deprive all the social media addicts of their daily dose of outrage? That'll never happen.

Would this always be an algorithm thing? Or could it have been an employee acting rogue or under instruction? I appreciate you don’t know but stuff like this fascinates me and I have no clue how it works.

I recently had a 7 day Facebook Jail sentence for saying 'just have your jabs and stop bleating, you massive fanny' to someone.
I mean, letter of the law, fair enough, but still seemed a bit much. Particularly when the fella I was replying to was spouting all sorts of crap.
I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.
One of the tropes from the far right in regards to censorship is that this never happens to the left leaning sources which is simply not true, as this demonstrates
They generally view social media platforms as left leaning, when in reality, they're probably more centre ground if anything
Alcohol is the answer but I can't remember the question!

Have YouTube said why they have been removed, though? Maybe, as suggested above, it is because of some algorithm that needs checking.
They ought to have had fair warning before being removed but it is a careful balancing act. Clearly Facebook are getting far more grief over who they have not removed than ones they are.
All I found when Googling them was that they used to be the mouthpiece of Corbyn but got taken over by a Tory-supporting lawyer so maybe there has been some misrepresentation going on. They are a group I know nothing of so cannot comment beyond saying that we clearly are missing some information so far.
My experience of YouTube is that they tend to assume guilt before it's proven and the onus is on the content provider to prove they're not guilty so it's possible they could have been shut down in this way
However, I would expect a three strikes and your out approach from YouTube, barring some pressure from higher up their chain of command to clamp down on extreme content providers, whether they tick this category is up for debate
As is the way with organisations such as this, there's often little transparency

I mean google have an enormous amount of power in these situations, but the size of what they need to check is so vast it's left to computers. One example of AI acrewing up was that they locked and deleted (although later restored) a youtube historians entire google drive (including all his personal photos) because there was "terrorist imagery" stored on it. The person in question made videos about tanks and had some pictures of tanks with IS fighters riding on them, stored on his Google drive. What's stupid, is that you can literally find the same images on google image search, even with safe search on. The algorithm looking through google drives however clearly went and flagged anyone storing certain images.

Probably not, I would have thought the algorithm just flags potential things and then someone presses a yay or nay. That's only a guess mind, I don't know the internal workings of the system.
Someone could have gone rogue under instruction but these things are always logged and it'd be a really easy way to lose your job for something that can quickly be reversed.

In some cases they do, I think it depends on the perceived rule that is broken.
Things like DMCA strikes, that really is out of their hands as they have to play by the (dumb) laws of copyright. I very much doubt they would want the system to work the way it does, Tom Scott actually has a really good video explaining this.
If it was for say uploading child pornography, I very much doubt they are going to leave a channel up with a warning if something like that happened.

It's also often a false equivalence - in many cases one side is spouting conspiracy theories and clearly untrue information, while the other just has a political leaning. It's like people claiming the Guardian is a left-wing equivalent of the Daily Mail.

Nice quasi-legal cameo from Jay Foreman there.....
Just one small problem; sell their houses to who, Ben? Fcking Aquaman?
