Guthrum - the problem is deeper than league position, that masked what was going on financially. The owner and CEO allowed costs to rocket as quality on the pitch deteriorated. We were supposedly a well-run club, but the accounts show we were anything but. Ashton was earning £540k p.a. for a £16m turnover business. He sold well, but he bought overpriced players on high wages that have hampered Holden and now Pearson. Who lets a £5.3m record signing leave on a free?
This is Ashton’s MO….unfortunately you won’t see this season’s accounts for another year.
Genuine question: do you think the playing budget / costs this season are sustainable for another season in Lg1? Do you think the expectation was promotion (auto / playoffs) this season? I do, but I’m an outsider. Do you think you will get promoted this season?

Your local reporters don’t seem to hold the same views as you - I.e. Ashton is a cross between Vlad the Impaler and Fred the Shred. Let it go! It’s not your problem any more.
You have no idea what the structure of Ipswich Town is, nor the state it’s been in for getting on for 20 years. We sit marooned in a dross league with an average of 20,000 turning up for home games following a team that have offered little in years. They turn up to a faded old ground where the newest part until the new owners came was 10 year old badly applied paint on the turnstiles.
Your lot by comparison have enjoyed years of unprecedented success as an L1/odd appearances in the Championship club. New facilities, ground, you name it. You are now established there and attracted a manager of the calibre of Pearson and Lee Johnson, who is doing alright at Sunderland. Well done. Celebrate! You are not ‘Premier League in Waiting’ as some of your oddballs seem to think, but you are doing a heck of a lot better than we’ve managed in a long time.
Ashton may be Stalin in disguise, but he is in a new set up and should be judged on what he does here, not your repeated claims that he’s responsible for everything from Bristol City not winning the Champions League to Global Warming.
You repeatedly made your point about Ashton in the summer. It doesn’t need to be repeated.

I understand why some fans would prefer you not to post on here but, personally, I feel fanbases revealing personal opinions and knowledge of people who have worked with them is only natural. If Marcus Evans stated an interest in buying another football club I think a hoard from here would be issuing warnings left right and centre.
And, to be honest, that’s where we have to start - Marcus Evans. The difference between Ashton starting his role at City and here is he had no structure to destroy. Evans basically left everything to the the head of the academy and the manager, telling them to get on with it. It’s wonderful to actually have something in place which looks like a modern football club. Admittedly it may have caused issues with Cook, who expected to be all powerful when hired by Evans but instead finding he had little say in a lot of areas once Gamechanger took over.
Also, am I right in thinking Stephen Lansdown had little experience or knowledge of running a football club before taking over Bristol City? Whilst it’s very different in America, those on the board do have knowledge from Phoenix Rising so may be in a better position to question Ashton and ensure he is not over-buying for little reward.
At this stage we do have little power; we can only be wary as Ashton has done little at this stage to harm the club. Maybe that is to come and you’ll be able to say “I told you so”. But, at this point, it almost feels like things can’t get any worse.
