History will show a win 16:59 - Feb 5 with 2370 views | Vic | Every one counts. KM is still learning about his players and who plays best with who. He’s a decent tactician so let’s keep looking forward.

Agreed. But I don't want ugly to be the default. The difference between the 4-0 away game and this one is mystifying.

As deluded as Sunderland fans? They have had some shocking performances this season.

They were far far better under Harris, we had no midfield.

History will show a win on 17:47 - Feb 5 with 2162 views | Swansea_Blue | I thought he got that wrong today. You can’t blame him for the starting line up; I was looking forward to Pigott having a chance, as we’re a lot. We controlled the game, but fell short in the final third. It was obvious to me that the front three weren’t doing it but the rest of the team was a really solid platform. He didn’t need to change system; he only needed to to tweak things at the top of the pitch. He was lucky and got away with it, but we had a couple of scares as a direct result of the change.

Indeed, no mystery about us missing Morsy, Aluko, Bonne, Burns and Vincent-Young and them being better organised.

History will show a win on 17:49 - Feb 5 with 2141 views | footers | Good teams play badly and win. We did that today. Under Cook we may have played exhilarating attacking footy at times but ended up getting schooled. Five wins out of seven games. Can't ask for more than that.

History will show a win on 17:59 - Feb 5 with 2101 views | Churchman | Absolutely this. I would add that while we are misfiring as a team and there is lots to do, the defence is much improved. 4 goals conceded, 4 clean sheets in 7 games under KM. 4 of the 7 have been away from home too. Yeah, Pigott and Norwood didn't work. Pigott hasn't worked in any of his appearances in cup or league unfortunately. Still think we should persevere with 3-4-2-1 personally. Get Chaplin closer to goal, get Aluko/Celina playing between the lines.

Problem is we aren’t a good team. Too many inconsistent displays and too many defeats. The good sides can win ugly, but they also don’t lose as many games as we have. [Post edited 5 Feb 2022 18:34]

No team in L1 is a good team but with a bit more consistency- which I believe will happen - then we’ll make the play-offs and win them.

When I saw the lineup I was really pleased. For him and us, as he’s not had a chance really. But he didn’t grab the opportunity did he? Really disappointed.

We are not that bad. Unlike the mugs of the last two seasons we at least have the capacity to most of the time compete with the better teams. We’ve lost 3 league games since 1 Dec (w5, d2, l3). It doesn’t make us Man City, but we had we not had such a shambolic start, we’d be a lot closer. We are not great, but we are not a bad side. We’ve stopped letting in goals every week as we did in the first chunk of the season and in my view, we are not a million miles off. I think play offs this year is still unlikely, but you never know and regardless we have a good base for next season.

We are closer to a MM side than a Joe Royle one aren't we? We manage games according to the situation instead of simply trying to outscore everyone.

I think "not had a chance" is a stretch. He's started games across 3 competitions, often against very weak opposition, he's had substitute cameos in the league and has done nothing at any point to push himself into contention.

You have a point about losing games - looking at the table it’s clear that those above us have all lost a lot few games away from home. Even at 2 losses in 7 (which most of us think is a good start for KM) would be 4 in 14 and 8 in 28 - which none of the top 6 have lost.
