A good point today...but 17:07 - Feb 12 with 4546 views | ArnieM | I think McK made a mistake going for Jackson. He offers us nothing up front. Just wish Bonne could find his form again, because his work rate is exceptional. Going forwards, Im not convinced that many of the current strikers at the club will still be here next season and I think McK is evaluating them now tbh. Overall a very good point ...well played lads

Give Simpson a go he couldn’t do any worse.
A good point today...but on 17:50 - Feb 12 with 1787 views | FrimleyBlue | The reason we had large parts of that game with the ball at the feet of celina, Chaplin etc is due to the running of Jackson. No he's not prolific. But he did the job asked of him by KM this was obvious.

A good point today...but on 17:44 - Feb 12 by BarcaBlue | It was 0-0, another 21 players plus subs didn't score either so why single out Jackson? Not entirely sure what your point is there to be honest. |
Only one striker played by both clubs Unless Jackson has become something that nobody has seen in his time here his a striker who works hard but don't score goals all I'm saying

On current form?!? Norwood past two games would be lucky to play Sunday league
A good point today...but on 18:26 - Feb 12 with 1723 views | Ftnfwest | Possibly but none of the others are tearing up trees, his pace got him in a couple of times, should have scored. The one in the first half I think Norwood would have drilled in along the ground.

Nice to know me and KM share the same thoughts:) ". We knew it was going to be important to have a threat in behind to stretch their line, to create a little bit more space for Celina and Chaplin"

Exactly this. He pressed really well, and gave us a threat behind.

When he came back into the team, he ways scoring in just about every game. Then McKenna starts chopping and changing the front men every game. It hasn’t suited any of them to be in then out then in and then out…. We aren’t bloody Man City, Liverpool or Chelsea you know ,and this division three , not the champions league . When was the last time Jackson actually looked like he could do anything in a Town shirt? I was very disappointed to see him start up front and as soon as I saw it I knew we’d not be scoring a goal….we are struggling enough as it is, but out of Bonne, Norwood, Piggott, Jackson or even Simpson, I’d put Jackson bottom of the pile as a likely candidate to score a goal in a tight game. Sorry, but that’s just how I see it. I won’t be surprised to see most of these strikers not even at the club next season.

A good point today...but on 20:03 - Feb 12 with 1623 views | itfcjoe | Seemed a clear game plan to keep them pushed back, and keep them honest and thought we controlled the game and totally knocked them out of their rhythm and Jackson was important in that. We ceded control when we made the double change, Norwood plays in such a chaotic manner that it can be good but on a chess match style game like today he causes us problems

He nearly cost us the game with a completely needless, brainless foul with 30 seconds left on the clock as well. Be surprised if many (if any) other teams have gone there this season and had more possession than them. Morsy was outstanding. We look to be really improving to me, very solid and just need to work on creating a bit more in the final third. [Post edited 12 Feb 2022 20:07]

I didn't understand why McKenna started Jackson. After reading his interview I think I get it now. Talk of his pace and ability to counter attack and get in behind their defenders. And how he creates additional space for Chaplin and Celina. Talk of his transition threat which is an area of football I don't know much about. But clearly an extremely good coach like McKenna would and demonstrates how he is using those excellent coaching skills. Nice that McKenna is explaining some of his methods and reasoning in his decisions back to the fans. Although your average fan would probably not fully understand it all at least he is crediting us with some intelligence and understanding which is more than previous managers have. I don't think McKenna was playing Jackson for his goal threat. More likely that he thought it would make it more likely for other players to score as it creates more space for them. I guess he didn't think that Bonne and Norwood's up and at 'em style and sh*thousery tactics would be very effective against the MK Dons defence. Hence why he played Jackson instead. He must see something in him, maybe Jackson does a lot of stuff that tends to go unnoticed.
A good point today...but on 20:19 - Feb 12 with 1572 views | blueball1 | I thought Jackson played his role very well. Unless I saw it wrong I think his job was to stretch their team back with his pace, leaving Morsy and bakingson to sit and allow Chaplin and Celina a space between midfield and defence to get into dangerous areas and create. I’d actually say they might be too similar, once Chaplin came off Celina seemed to have much space. I wouldn’t drop either though they both look very dangerous
A good point today...but on 20:25 - Feb 12 with 1550 views | MaySixth | Bonne can't press anything like Jackson. Norwood and Bonne missing the chances against Doncaster made it obvious for them to be on the bench today for me. Jackson 7/10

Agree with all that. I can't see either Celina or Chaplin being dropped in a hurry. Against a worse team who stick 10 men behind the ball I don't think Jackson would start. It's just because MK Dons playing a more open game and going for the win too, possibly creating opportunities to get in behind their defence which is a strength Jackson has that the other forwards don't.

The other option would have been to go nowhere near him and make no challenge whatsoever, and risk Twine getting a shot away or slipping someone in.

Not sure you can question it on the results? Norwood's played pretty regularly since his little purple patch. Not every game, but not so irregularly that he'd lose match fitness. His form is erratic because he's not a very consistent player.
