I actually thought yesterday's atmosphere could've been a lot better with how many we took, and I mainly think that's down to a lack of decent songs we've got.
You hear about 5 renditions of 'Allez, Allez', a couple 'Hark Now Hear', 'Blue Army' and maybe an Alley Alley Ally Oooooo if you're lucky
Our chants for individual players are pretty standard and boring (i.e Macauley Bonne, he's one of our own)
Even in the Championship days I remember we sung Edward Ebeneezer quite a bit.

Been saying this for years, don’t give a *&£# about Norwich and should concentrate on putting some new songs together. Not just about the club but individual players as well. This is from an ex north stander who now sits with his grandson in the family section.

Our songs wont ever get any better, because you only need to look around to see so many have no interest in joining in.
the only ones that actually get an airing are the terrible ones "football in a library" for example.
if there are too many words to learn people dont want to know. often the ones that get suggested so dont go, at all, turning Luke in LUKEY, or Sam into Samy....
why dont the classics of the past get an airing.... "born as the king of portman road" "super super jim" "walking in a stewart wonderland"
Two For McKenna.... To the Harry Maguire tune. Kieran McKenna, Kieran McKenna, You came from Man U and nobody knew you and now we f**kin love you.
Or to tune of Lampard/Tuchel song at Chelsea. We’ve got super K McKenna, He knows exactly what to do, Wolfie at the back, Macauley in attack, Ipswich charging up the football league. (Or gonna win the f**kin league)
From yesteryear for now. To Kiwomya tune. Edmundson my lord, Edmundson, Edmundson my lord, Edmundson, Oh lord Edmundson.
Johnson’s born is the king tune would work for Burns or Morsy. Morsy, Morsy, Morsy, Morsy, Born is the king of Portman Road.

Agree with you, only have to look around the north/awayday and see so many more joining in.
The more 'hardcore' fans who have come to PR, usually the northern teams i.e Sunderland, Wednesday always have the entire stand joining in and it makes for a great noise.

Bring back the old player songs from around 2000 era when it seemed every player from Richard Wright to Johnson or Stewie had chants echoing around Portman Road.
How hard can it be to get a Burns song going from the classic Disco Inferno!

It really is screaming out for us to sing that, (burns) unbelievable that so many stand, hear us trying to get it going, but have absolutely no enthusiasm to make it work. A lazy fan base
Agree. So bored of your support is f***ing sh*t, is this a library, I wanna go home etc at every away game. Couldn’t even get blue and white army going yesterday which would’ve been good if sung in unison across the stand. Hoping for new ones is probably optimistic unless copied from elsewhere but even more of the ones sung regularly around 2000 would be a good start.

We should just sing ‘Come on the Town (Edward Ebeneezer)’ ‘Singing the Blues’ ‘Ipswich, Ipswich get that goal.’
Three excellent Ipswich songs that need to be sung at matches. I might turn up with my kazoo next time.
They'd all laugh at me if they knew what I was trying to do. To create a new strain of super-wine in half-an-hour with a fraction of nature's resources and a FOOL for an assistant. 'Bernard Black, he's mad,' they'd say, 'he's insane, he's dangerous.' Well I'll show them! I'll show them all!

Why does nobody sing "Ipswich" to the tune of Amazing Grace anymore?
Shameful.
The Magilton "Oh What A Night" song is great.
"Ipswich" to Amazing Grace did get started yesterday, but quickly got drowned out by something else, which was a shame. Always remember hearing that in and after Helsinborg - still makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up, just thinking about it!
I thought our support was very good yesterday, but have to agree with the original poster that we needed more "Ipswich" songs or player songs, rather than "Your support is...... and football in a library".

All we can sing about(well, not me!)is fecking Norwich, Jesus wept how many times did "hark now hear" get tried out again, couple of pi$$ed up blokes at the back kept trying five minutes after everyone had just sung it..
A songsheet with songs in order should be handed out, ok I'm kidding but at least everyone would be singing together and the same song!

Fully agree ... we've always needed one chant that is fully ours and not just a slew of derivatives that you hear at every ground.
Admittedly the game itself always has a huge impact on the quality of chanting/atmosphere ... had we scored / won then singing would have sounded far less disjointed.
Budgies ditty On The Ball is laughably pants but at least they have one that is genuinely their own ..
It's all the more jarring these days given our most famous fan just so happens to be one of the world's most successful singer songwriters.
Though for shameless plagiarism I was astonished to hear MK Dons sing (albeit only faintly audible) No One Likes Us We Don't Care .... as if anyone really cares.
That said would love to have a Town anthem that was this visceral and in your face.

What’s wrong with the old classics that an away end can actually sing? Now it’s all the generic rubbish. I miss the old Ipswich to amazing grace etc but sounds like football fans like to clap and sing at 100MPH these days!

Exactly. We insist on signing a song that I think bl00dy Crystal Palace started (and don’t sing it well) - sounds depressing.
