It's hard to ask people to "leave someone alone" when they've voluntarily ranted a load of nonsense across Youtube. If I say water is wet that's an opinion, but people would then rightly be free to disagree with me.
If someone was harassing Colin in the street demanding his views and then ridiculing them, that's one thing. Putting your views out there of your own accord is an open invitation for others to comment.

I've encountered these people at games. When they argue with people around them it always starts with them saying the year they started going, as if that confers superior intellect on them immediately.
You rightly point out that football has changed a lot even in the last decade let alone since the 1970s which is usually when these people hark back to.
I've also noticed they tend to think anyone appointed as Town manager who isn't also a member of the Robson teams is not to be trusted. Terry Butcher was a disaster as a manager but you often hear people saying he would "get stuck in". Getting stuck in tends not to work, but they parrot that line anyway. |

I really don't get the criticism of him or the old geezer. Yes I disagree with pretty much everything that's coming from his trap, but ultimately football is about opinions. It would be a lot less fun if we all agreed on everything.

Which is what all these podcasts claim they are about, lively, passionate debate.
Unless someone disagrees with them. Then it's "if you don't like it, don't watch" or "Colin's been going for years etc."
The flip side is if you can't handle feedback on your views, maybe don't share them in a public forum? 20,000+ people left the stadium on Tuesday without seeking out the nearest microphone. It's not compulsory you know. You have a choice.
Colin, in my humble view, was talking utter, utter garbage. He was ranting with the sort of rage that would have been appropriate after the FA Cup exit at Barow, but not a 0-0 draw where we played very well, created a hatful of chances and continued a fine run of clean sheets. He banged on about people laughing (who was laughing at the final whistle on Tuesday? Nobody surely) and then told Piggott to get out of his club.

Nothing good comes from sticking a microphone in someone's face a few minutes after the final whistle of a frustrating result. It's the same with social media, people now have the means to reach a massive audience and footballer's directly with emotionally charged opinions. What you used to say in a pub to a mate is now in several cases broadcast for everyone to see and hear.
