Salary (hourly rate) 14:33 - Mar 17 with 1432 views | gtsb1966 | I'm semi retired but still do some work to keep my sanity and earn money for those extras and i often look around to see if there is anything about that would take my fancy. My question is though I've noticed some companies will state that the hourly rate is from £9.50 ( minimum wage come April) . It's the "from" bit I don't get. Obviously they would love you to work for that hourly rate but what would be a reasonable, and acceptable rate to the employer,to ask for. If I went for non skilled job I wouldn't know what to ask for.

Have a google if you're interested. It's not based on tips or gambling. You cover all outcomes by using free bets and bonuses.

Yep, still going. I don't think they will ever fully stop us. I don't see how they can really unless they get promotional offers banned which some people are strongly pushing for. Mostly people who have seen gambling destroy a relative so I don't blame them.

Salary (hourly rate) on 14:59 - Mar 17 with 1241 views | clive_baker | Balance I guess of getting a fair amount for your time but not pricing yourself out. If there's a queue of people willing to do the job for £9.50 then they're probably unlikely to need to pay £12. I would look at it the other way and say what's my time worth and what pay do I need to be earning to make it worth my while. If that's £10 ask for £10.

As above It is not want you want, it is what they are willing/wanting to pay Fixing a broken boiler in the middle of winter/removing and fitting lock 2 in the morning ......... name your price Doing a job anyone can do, there will be no shortage of minimum wage applicants My thought would be whether I would be enjoying what I am doing. Money should not be the sole motive. If you are semi retired then you will have done your share of 'putting up with stuff'. Find something you value doing, and perhaps accept less than you think you might be worth
Salary (hourly rate) on 15:56 - Mar 17 with 1114 views | blueasfook | Usually that applies to skilled jobs. So if a company want a software developer say, they'll advertise a role for say £50k - £65k. The amount you get is usually dependent on experience and "fit" for the job. So if you have 20 years experience and tick all the boxes in terms of the skills they want, you can command the full whack. If you maybe only have 2 years experience and a few of the skills they want, it'll be the lower end you get offered. For a non-skilled job, i think that's silly. I suspect it'll be £9.50 an hour, no matter what! [Post edited 17 Mar 2022 15:57]

Poor rightie the shortage of poultry workers was supposedly caused by a shortage of wages ? not a removal of skilled workers from the labour force, no sirree which rather contradicts your guff about P&O workers

Harold if dry plucking turkeys paid £20/hour do you think there would be a shortage of workers to carry it out? Interested to know why you think my position is right wing though.
