Gamechanger promotion on Town socials 14:00 - Apr 7 with 1623 views | BonneNIL | First things first, I think you need a couple of years to judge the ownership and administration. There is a lot of optimism but we had a poor start under them, most will blame Cook, however, next season will tell us much more about whether Gamechanger/Ashton are really up to the task, however, we can remain hopeful over the summer. What I will say is the posts today online seemed a bit weird to me, and it may be just me, and I accept that. It seemed weird to be promoting/championing essentially the board members and investors on the club's social media, has anyone else club-wise done that? I could understand if we had a huge success this season, and going by some of the replies on Facebook you would think we had stormed the league, but did we really need a graphic with the board, CEO, and Chairman on our socials celebrating a year's ownership? The video bits are fine, as that's an update from the owners but it's a bit of a non-achievement to celebrate/promote isn't it?

Gamechanger promotion on Town socials on 14:06 - Apr 7 with 1576 views | homer_123 | I've posted before - personally, I put little store on what the club/ owners 'say' - I'm more interested in what happens on the pitch. I agree, a little odd for me too but I will say that this is more the norm now and shows they recognise the importance of communication. Not really a big thing either way, for me.

The people running our club by homer_123 31 Mar 2022 8:27Much in the same way I was not interested in what our previous owner had to say (when he did communicate) - I'm not getting carried away with our new incumbents.
Not being negative but words are easy - it's the implementation we've always had a problem with.
Since KM has joined, I think those plans look a little more achievable than they ever did under Cook and it looks like we are building well behind the scenes.
It feels like we are in a far better position than we have been for many years but the cold hard reality is we will likely still be playing L1 football next season.

Gamechanger promotion on Town socials on 14:10 - Apr 7 with 1545 views | Bobbychase | Disagree on this line: "next season will tell us much more about whether Gamechanger/Ashton are really up to the task" If we judge people on their actions and not what they say, I don't see what they can be faulted on. From the signings of people like Morsy and Celina when they really don't belong at a L1 club, to the merchandising activity, the increase in crowds, the appointment of McKenna, the plans to improve the stadium and training ground - we've got spectacularly lucky with Gamechanger. They can release as many cheesy press statements as they like, frankly.

Gamechanger promotion on Town socials on 14:15 - Apr 7 with 1522 views | jasondozzell | I understand what you’re getting at, but come on - think how desperate we were for leadership and direction at the end of the Evans era. Don’t forget how grim it was. Remember spending an entire summer waiting for Waghorn to be sold and knowing there was no real plan other than a bruised Evans trying to keep us afloat with the bare minimum. Now we have a plan and an infrastructure in place. I think it’s a positive thing that Gamechanger are so keen to stay as the face of the club and that the club feels connected to them.

Exactly. It's human nature to take things for granted quickly - we get bored of our Christmas presents within days, we assume our home broadband will always be superb - and there is an element of it happening here. There is another scenario we could easily be in had we been bought by less ambitious owners who didn't employ the right people. And I shudder to think about it sometimes.

Absolutely. We are lucky and you have to say that for all his ills, Evans did the right thing by us in wiping off the debt and insisting on decent buyers. Look at how many charlatans have been allowed to purchase football clubs. Gamechanger are a decent outfit and the key for me is that Johnson et al are genuine football fans who are excited to be involved with such a club.

A lot of people like hearing nice things being said and owners that are passionate and invested financially and emotionally. Particularly after Evans. [Post edited 7 Apr 2022 14:33]

Absolutely. And to the OP, i haven't seen a lot of it - just Brett's video and the O'Leary piece - but I'd certainly expect them to mark their first anniversary in some way. Not sure what I've seen is out of place or OTT.

That’s all well and good but we are a pension fund asset. Pension funds expect returns. Gamechanger are the opposite of Evans in that they do all the touchy feely stuff very well, but the bottom line is that we remain a mid table League 1 club. My fear remains what happens to us if we don’t go up in the next couple of seasons. Every year we stay down the harder it gets to escape imho.

I thought this a little while back, but then also, if we do stay down, but have the ground plus training ground all done up, plus we have the land behind the stand. Aren't we more attractive to further ownership compared to what Gamechanger even took on anyway.

Gamechanger promotion on Town socials on 16:48 - Apr 8 with 1034 views | BloomBlue | Americans, they do it all the time especially companies. They love to come out with little statements as they think it inspires passion, whereas I always found staff in countries outside the USofA thought what a load of bullshlt. The important thing is what happens on the pitch and judge them on that.
Gamechanger promotion on Town socials on 18:05 - Apr 8 with 957 views | ghostofescobar | Assume you've not been around for the past decade or so? During that time the only thing we had to "promote" was some turnstiles being repainted. The club is slowly being rebuilt. What do you think we would celebrating if Evans was still in charge? Some seats in the lower Cobbold being pressure washed? A new flag being purchased to fly? Fence being stained around the practice pitch at PR? There's quite a lot to celebrate at the mo, not just on the pitch.

Gamechanger promotion on Town socials on 18:10 - Apr 8 with 950 views | Blue_Heath | The Evans era will take years to undo and I for one am happy to hear from the owners rather than someone who rarely communicates with the fans. If KM can repeat or better what he has done so far next season we will go from mid table to promotion so more than happy with that. That said we will need some investment, notably a striker or two, a left wing back and permanent signing of Santi.

Hang on, you are being harsh on ‘our saviour Marcus’. There was also the portacabin at the training ground that got a lick of paint a few years ago - presumably discounted old stock. And that smartprice box of seed for the pitch. In reality, I understand peoples caution, but compared to the last 15/20 years, what’s not to like? When Gamechanger came in I wondered if they were serious. Given the structure that has been put in the club, the land that’s been bought, the planned work, the speed at which Cook replaced when it wasn’t working. the words of the owners, they look pretty serious to me. However strange it is to hear the owners using forums, Twitter etc, it’s light years better than faceless Evans and the vacuum that existed in his time, despite the shiny turnstiles and the annual season ticket renewal lies. As for the team, if you build from the ground up, do all the stuff in the club and out of it, we will get promoted sooner rather than later. In conclusion, we are in far better shape than we’ve been in years, fundamentally. Keep the faith and enjoy the ride.
