The worst Ipswich players of all time…. 07:49 - Apr 16 with 11979 viewsITFC_nostalgia

Surely Leon Best makes the top 3? And if there’s been a more ironically named Town player I don’t remember them!

You do know he’s played since “injury ruined him” don’t you.

Can't be many players who were playing so badly that they had to be subbed after 21 minutes. He was good when he first came here though.

I think “worst Ipswich players of all time” probably extends beyond “good players who had a couple of sh*t games here and there”, but I’ll leave it with you.

Lee Chapman. Decent target man in his day but was well past his best when he played for us.

Exactly right.
In a similar theme Burgess was completely useless earlier this year too but when he came back he played consistently well until his brain fart.
All the players with us at the moment have a claim to be our worst ever player with the exceptions of Celina Walton and Morsy who have all done it at a higher level. You know, the level Graham Harbey and Glenn Pennyfather played regularly at.

Luke Hyam. Stole a living for far too long at Portman Road. I couldnt care less about the people that harp on about him being one of our own... if he'd been my next door neighbour I'd have told him he was shìt..

Owen Garvan another. Didnt bring anything to the party in my book. But ever so slightly less worshipped by the blind than Hyam was.

With all the hype surrounding his arrival, surely Sam Parkin is a fair way up any sort of list like this also?

The sheer amount of dog excrement to have graced the portnan road turf, even in more recent history, makes for grim reading.

Jonas Axeldal surely has to be one of the worst.

Scored loads of goals for our reserves which is probably an equivalent level to our current one.

Jonathon Douglas second for simply not caring or putting any real effort in

Worst performance might be Fish, but difficult to put him in a 'worst ever players' list when he only ever played one game.

Skard was my first thought and I have seen nothing else on this thread to change my mind.

Shumilokoski was so far short of what was expected too.

Amir Karic, Ulrich Le Pen and Mark Fish could all qualify.

Adrian Paz as well.

Not sure we really saw enough of Le Pen to judge him as a contender for the worst.

Remember that donkey crashing over the advertising hoardings at least twice a game!

When you say Donkey I always think about David Linighan. We always used to joke that the club coach had to pull a horse box with big Dave in. Perhaps a bit harsh as he captained us to the top flight under Lyall. Lol

James Pullen played two games. He did pretty well in the first one.

I'm quiet well qualified to voice an opinion actually. But why let facts get in the way of some willy waving on a forum.

Well done you for being qualified - whatever that means.

I’m surprised no one has mentioned Chris O’Donnell! He was the worst for me ahead of Juryeff, Proudlock and Giles Bloody Coke

Morons? Just because people have a different opinion from you? You seem lovely.

For the record, I watched him play throughout his time here. His first season was poor, he had the odd moment but he was simply dreadful going forward. It got worse from then on. His second season always filled me full of dread as he was a disaster waiting to happen. Luckily he didn't play much and was soon gone.

I remember that period well and to give him any credit for his interaction with David Lowe is down to Lowe more than Harbey. Also, he was LB and Mr Lowe more often than not frequented the RW; so maybe there was one occasion that sticks in your mind?

Nothing personal against the chap, he was just truly terrible in a Town shirt.

Dear mutters. I do apologise most sincerely for hurting your feelings.

David Lowe played almost exclusively left-side striker in my memory, sometimes a slightly withdrawn striker.

I wasn't arguing that Harbey was a star player. I don't, however, think he deserves to be considered among ITFC's poorest ever players, which is what the thread is about.

This sort of thread always produces morons who say how dreadful Harbey was. Some of the people who say this aren't even old enough to have seen him play!

He and David Lowe combined well going forwards - Lowe rated Harbey - and he really wasn't that bad defensively.

Many many players worse than him.

Indeed. And Brian Talbot saw fit to buy him for more money than Town paid for him - so all in all quite a good signing.
