Russian soldiers sent Olga Novikova, founder/director of Mariupol film festival video with her captured son demanding to pay 5000 Euro ransom for his life. If not they promised to send video of his execution. links in comments. pic.twitter.com/VBtauH45IZ
Two charming little actresses, Elizabeth and Sonya, of the city theatre of Mariupol. They both performed the role of Lucy in "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe".
Russia transferred 1,000,000 of Russian citizens to Crimea after the annexation in order to replace the local population, who partly left Crimea and partly was oppressed/arrested/sentenced/relocated, whose property was seized, businesses hijacked. /2 pic.twitter.com/HLXEQPGGYK
This 1951 poster promises Russians who come to Crimea lands huge financial support, freedom from many duties etc. Of course, these Russians just took the houses and lands of Crimea Tatars - for free. In a few years, they started to say, "we feel at home" /4 pic.twitter.com/omDsFlR9Y8
‘Just starting to run, it's a bit daunting because I'm not quite used to it yet. But I want to support kids who've lost their legs and can't run.’ Yana, courageous 12-year-old lost both her legs when Russian missile hit Kramatorsk station. Her mother also lost a leg.
Corruption doesn't just rear its head in our own government and its awarding of PPE contracts, failure to maintain schools and hospitals etc. but it is good to see Zelensky making decent attempts to sort it out:
Let's hope that Rustem Umerov is as good as he sounds...and that Ukraine keeps on allowing journalists like Olga Rudensko to report with as little hindrance as possible:
This was portrayed as purely a malfunction previously, but there is now rumours it was a deliberate act from the pilot to fire the missile at the RAF surveillance flight last year. It claims that he fired without permission after misunderstanding orders received from the ground, but continued to attempt to fire a second missile despite the other pilot telling him to stop.
We'll not know for certain what is the whole truth because the MoD aren't going to share information and I doubt Russian testimony will be reliable, but it's a reminder of how 1 person with the tools and opportunity could start a war by themselves.

I wish we were as powerful as Russia seems to think we are.
Apparently Zelensky takes his orders from MI6.
Following reports that UK-supplied Storm Shadow missiles were used in yesterday’s attack on Russian naval vessels in Sevastopol, Vladimir Ovchinsky claims on state TV that Britain started both world wars and that Zelensky is an agent of MI6 pic.twitter.com/41QqqMdK0P

"Britain started both World Wars" ... are they going to accuse Britain of being Nazis as well now? It is just insane ranting meant for domestic consumption without questioning.
I wonder how widespread it is believed and how many Russians realise its insanity but simply keep quiet.

Domestic consumption. Most Russians believe what they are told. This bloke’s grasp of history is bizarre. But given there will be challenge to their nonsense he can say what he likes.
I really don’t understand why the Russians keep mentioning this weak, friendless country. We offer no threat whatsoever to them.

The Black Sea Fleet HQ building is still burning 4 hours after it was struck with long-range missiles.
If it was struck with Storm Shadow missiles, as we suspect, the internal damage to the building will be far greater than the external footage suggests.
According to operational information, seven victims were injured in Darnytsia district of the capital. Medical assistance was provided to people, including a pregnant woman, four were hospitalized, including a 9-year-old girl. - Kyiv RMA pic.twitter.com/a8CVNroXCO

Russian budget expenses for Putin’s maintenance will increase by 20%.
The draft Russian federal budget for 2024-2026 includes 74.7 billion rubles (about $777 million) for the “functioning” of the Russian dictator. Compared to the previous 3-year budget, these expenses will… pic.twitter.com/ugxS7BfxhX

Thanks for the informative and depressing article.
But it's good to know that she still has the will to keep on going too. Another piece that I have come across as part of my organised trawl though the mass of content we have available to us these days:
Halfway through the twenty four minutes Grebenschikov talks about Ukraine fatigue and I do think it is important to keep this war close to the top of the agenda. I don't always agree with the slant you are putting on what you post but, all the same, keep up the good work Irish_Blue.
