I don’t think that the PM is in anyway thick. He knows his audience and knows how to play them and anyone else is irrelevant. He decided which way Brexit was turning, told lie after lie in order to come across as some sort of patriotic hard man and then became PM.
He is certainly incompetent, he is certainly deceitful and he doesn’t care about his supporters but he isn’t thick. In fact that makes it worse - he knows that his policies harm the country but he doesn’t care, he probably knows that most of his cabinet are incompetent, deceitful but also stupid and that is why he’s in power. |  | | |

Using logic, just about, I can only assume that they meant to suggest the NHS now is effectively Blockbuster at the time it went under and was replaced by Netflix and that they are suggesting the NHS is modernised and fit for purpose.
The only issue here is that the NHS isn't now undesirable because some new swanky medical care system has come along like Netflix. It's effectively because Boris Johnson and his mates took the Blockbuster they were running, gave away all of the popcorn, sweets and films to their mates for nothing, didn't bother asking for the tapes back, then made people wait for months on end for a movie they knew they couldn't actually ever deliver.
The reason the NHS is Blockbuster is because of the Tories! They have no interest in making it Netflix or any capability to do so, but the last people I'd want to run my new streaming service are the guys that allowed their video service to die because they had no idea how to be a streaming service! |  | | |

On Thursday this week, Rutherford Cancer Care will go into liquidation. They were only set up about 5 years ago. They have 4 state of the art facilities including Proton Beam. Their business model was built on the expectation that they would get large numbers of referrals. But that hasn't happened. So around a £240M investment in facilities is now in the hands of liquidators.
This just shows that privatising healthcare by stealth doesn't work. The only way this is can work is to provide these facilities to the NHS, which is where the patient need is. The NHS can identify which patients actually need Proton beam therapy, and the posh facilities can also be used for cancer patients who have private health insurance and want to park directly outside etc, with their insurer paying the NHS for the extras of the plush facilities and extra convenience.
Question is, will this lousy government seize the opportunity to bag these facilities at a knockdown price? It has sweet FA to do with netflix though. [Post edited 7 Jun 2022 17:27]
