I spoke to Celina's dad. 11:16 - Jul 5 with 9166 viewsThatMuhrenCross

I asked him if there were any truth in rumours linking us with Celina. This is the transcript of our conversation:

Me: Will he be signing for Ipswich?

EC: I hope so! Dijon is being difficult. Will be okay I think.

Me: Over the transfer fee?

EC: I don't know, but the agents are talking.

Me: I guess it's all part of the negotiations process... it would be good for him to be able to get started with his pre-season.

EC: He's waiting at home, speaking to coach (McKenna) almost daily.

Me: Must be so frustrating!

EC: Yes!

Poll: Ipswich offer you 10k a week, Norwich offer you 20k. Who do you join?

The entire conversation was public on the ITFCreactions Twitter profile, nothing private about it

No it wasn’t. That account replied to the dads tweet asking if Celina will stay, he replied he hoped so. That’s it. ITFC Reactions then must have privately messaged him and that’s where the dialogue came from.

Since Phil has now said the issue is with the player rather than the club, can we now confirm your were chatting pure waffle last week for attention..

A bit like what you’re doing on that twitter account again today by the sounds of it

Not sure I would want a player who views us as a 3rd choice option.

Dijon were the issue at one point, I believe, but that evidently was resolved.

Further to that, I'm not convinced it's particularly helpful or ethical for what I assume was a private conversation like that to be posted on here (or elsewhere) presumably without the other person concerned knowing about it.

All things being equal, I'm sure BC would pick us above the other contenders.

The most significant of the “other things” being money, no doubt. You’d think he’d be tempted by Rangers though. Playing in front of those crowds, guaranteed cup runs each season, 1 in 2 chance of winning the title, Europe’s football, etc.

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?

I'm sceptical whether that's a real possibility.

Us over Simpson and Dijon over Celina are opposite sides of the same coin really. Both probably resigned to moving them on, but will want to get as much for them as possible, and given it's early in the window will probably be happy to wait and see what happens. Hopefully interest in Celina doesn't pick up from elsewhere, would be frustrating if a Championship club swooped in and picked him up.

can't happen. Work permit.

Then delete it.

Most agree with that sentiment surely.

But he hasn't..

If he had such a desire to join surely it would be quite easy...
Sign a 1 year loan deal which I'm guessing would be at his current salary anyway and negotiate the salary for 23/24 at the end of the season or go someone else when work permit wouldn't be an issue.

Why would he forego some of his wages if he knows other clubs (Stoke and Kasimpasa) would match it.

It’s clear as day that Dijon do not want to pay a penny forwards his wages for this season. Town quite clearly don’t want to pay the full whack, so it’s a game of cat and mouse and who blinks first.

I wonder if Dijon have a mustard shop. And an airport.
