Not at this stage of the season, people were well into the 'making excuses for him' stage of things. Some never got out of that.

Exactly. In fact it took until the seventh game, four at home, before we got past three points. I see there’s a ‘McKenna out’ bleat on the responses to the match report. And so it begins.

The Football Must Have Been Better against the lower league opposition tonight, eh?

Possibly. Bearing in mind when we lost 1-0 to Newport last season he had already screwed up the latter end of 20/21 to deafening applause.

'Poor' bloke? He conned our club out of tens of thousands of £££.

Good job Cookie ain’t manager..,,, on 22:31 - Aug 9 with 1034 views | Dubtractor | McKenna seems to have got a lot more stick for tonight than Cook did for losing 1-0 to Newport last season. In fact there was one memorable thread last year positively raving about the game and the bright season we had in front of us.

Come on now, he was sacked just as the side were about to gel.

Quite. Far too many seemed to think the sun shined out of his coffee cup even once he'd been fired.

There's a fair few here love a failed manager. It's genuinely odd that our most successful manager of the past 20 years is often the most vilified.

Some here love a failed manager. There are also some here love and venerate failed players who took us down without a fight and served up two bleak seasons in League One, don't you? Nasty Cookie should have been nice to them when telling them to leave. [Post edited 9 Aug 2022 23:36]

Astounding narrative innit? Cook was toss and mugged off a load of people. Still defending him must be some sort of coping mechanism.

A handful of our failed players returned and beat our current heroic lot yesterday. Indeed, the failed players you mentioned have, to date, got us much closer to the play offs than the hand picked wonders we currently have. Not to say that it wasn’t right to move them on but would be nice to see a sign of better returns on the pitch.
