No ones getting worked up here... Just point out that it'd be massivley underwhelming when we had a youngster of our own we've let walk out the door who had more experience

I wonder if you'd be underwhelmed if the loan player turned out to be better than the one we let go?

Because a lot of people unfortunately don't like to call out Ashton for anything that isn't completely positive.

We've gone from Hirst to a striker that hasn't got an experience or scored a single professional goal. Just imagine the uproar if this was under ME tenure with 2 days until the window closes we were sniffing around this youngster having been linked with far more experienced and proven players all summer. It'd be carnage on here..

You are getting ahead of yourself. It's nothing more than paper talk right now, could well be agent generating interest, or Sheff Utd pushing this from their end.

Imagine allowing our own young player like Simpson walk out the door, a player with experience and has scored goals in League 2 and then bringing in a young player on loan from Sheff United with next to no experience. Not sure what kind of message that sends out to our youngsters myself...

Think it's a slightly different situation with Simpson, it's a long standing contractual dispute and the club are protecting their interests by selling him while he has value. Otherwise I dare say he would've been given some opportunities.

You're aware of the Simpson situation though - aren't you?

The Club offered him a contract which he declined.

Not sure why you’ve got so many downvotes here, you’re absolutely spot on, if it happens.

It was because we'd offered him a deal in line with a U23 player as opposed to one that was on the fringes of the first team.

He could've got games this season if he'd of stayed

A low ball contract, by all accounts.

Who is privy to the details of what defines a low ball contract for a player with 6 months experience at L2 level.

"Don't let your agent d*ck you about"?

If he gets a move to Huddersfield or WBA I doubt Simpson will feel like his agent has "d*cked him about".

It’s a football forum designed to discuss things about Ipswich, not every opinion has to be positive.

Similarly not every post has to be negative. Something a few of you could reflect on.

Amazes me that after the last 15 years we’ve all endured that when we have a cracking squad, good manager, are sitting 2nd in the league undefeated and our 2nd team have just spanked someone 6-0 that some of you are still so constantly miserable.

Plenty of time to moan if the wheels come off, but there’s no evidence to suggest they will.

I assume and hope you’re generalising, rather than aimining that at me. My posting history is usually very positive and I’m currently ordering my taxi for 5am for the train to Accrington Saturday, so can’t be that ‘miserable’.

I do actually agree partly with what you’re saying, but I don’t see any issue with being slightly underwhelmed if we sign Osula. We’ve known since last season we needed a striker, we’ve finally got a good financial backing behind us and we could potentially end up with 2 loans, Jackson and Ladapo.

The above said, I will get behind any town player when they’re on the pitch, but will give an opinion on a football forum.

Is it though?

Nobody is 'letting' Simpson walk out the door, he wanted to leave and asked to do so in the summer, he was offered terms, believes he is worth more than that (which he is perfectly within his rights to do) so rejected the terms.

Could it not be a case of he isn't as highly rated by us as maybe some others think he is?

This.

I do wonder how many of those bemoaning the loss of Simpson have actually seen him play. I've admittedly only watched him play a full game for Swindon once, but if he wasn't our player I wouldn't have paid him much notice in that game. Certainly nothing to get excited about on the evidence I saw.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.
