Early days, one game at a time etc but if we can do the business against Cambridge, this weekend could work out well for us.

Portsmouth are away to Barnsley (who beat Sheff Wed at the weekend)
Plymouth are at home to Sheff Wed (3 v 4) so one or both will drop points
Peterborough have a more straightforward fixture at home to FGR

As long as we don't slip up against Cambridge the table might make even better viewing this time next week.

Important to remember that Cambridge are fifth, though. Didn’t realise they were so high, 4 wins from first 7 so will be tough.

Really is key we pick up as many points as possible from these next 2 games with the run of 3 games we have after that. 4 points the absolute minimum.

Propped up by their home form though, they've only got 1 point from 3 games on the road, albeit against some decent opposition. I think if we can break them down early then they'll have to come at us and it'll be the sort of opponent we like playing against. Ironside is in form, we'll need to keep him quiet but I'm confident we can win the midfield battle. As you say won't be easy but I fancy 6 points off these next 2.

Will be another game where McKenna will take a lesson from the same fixture last season. We all had a laugh at how seriously they treated the game like it was a genuine derby but they really stepped up a couple of gears whilst we looked sluggish and deservedly got the win.

We've got more about us this time out and won't have Tom Carroll in the midfield to amble about losing every header and tackle. They shut down our RHS very effectively as well but this time we'll have more threats across the pitch to keep them occupied. Pretty sure it was after this game McKenna made a comment about how we struggle against teams playing 4231 and will need to look at how to fix it so will be interesting to see what we do. Could end up looking like we're matching them off the ball then switching to the more fluid 343 in possession.

Anyway, as you say we'll want to look at 2 wins from 2 here to give a nice shot of confidence before the Wednesday, Plymouth, Portsmouth triple threat.

Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand.

Should be at least 25k crowd for Cambridge. Would imagine they’ll come close to selling out the away end. COYB

Expect top sh*thousery from them, bouyed by their win last season. I hope w have it drummed into us to take them very seriously this time round. They'll have a good following, be up for it and may well fancy their chances should it be tight late in the game. 9 minutes of added time at least!

Think it will be nearer 26k, having looked at the seat map, whole of Sir Bob stand nearly sold out!

Conceded 10 goals in the league so far as well, so confident we can score and keep a clean sheet.

As you say 6 points from the next 2 games, then hopefully another 5 or 6 from the following 3.

Could have a couple of old boys up against us...Fraser Digby trying to keep our No. 10's quiet, and Jack Lankester out wide.

Whole week to recover / train / prepare, so won't be a surprise to see a few changes from the Accrington game to keep players fresh with one eye on the Bristol Rovers game on Tuesday.

My son is popping over for the match, carefully planned family visit so he can get the Bristol Rovers match in too. Think he's only seen us lose once, and that doesn't count as it was away to Reading. Nothing team.

Six points coming up.

Don't think I'm overdoing it when I say, we should be getting 6 pts from next two games.
I don't think we have a divine right or anything. But we are just so much better than last season..
We attack down both flanks and can really stretch teams. We were slightly easier to nullify last time we played Cambridge. With our main threat being Burns down the right. And in Harness, Chaplin and John Jules, we've got players that can make something happen on the edge of their box, if they want to sit back and park the bus.
If they want a war of attrition. Then we've got some super reinforcements off our bench that can keep up the intensity for the full 90 minutes..
Anything can happen, in a game of football. But, realistically, we've got to be winning home games against Cambridge and Bristol Rovers. With the squad we've got Even if we scrape them both 1-0..
It would set us up nicely for Weds away.. Which I think is also winnable..
I can guarantee you, now. That Wednesday will not be fancying playing us atm. They are having the odd bump themselves and we'll be flying if we win those two home games

I think we're a much better side than last time we played Cambridge, and while we'll still have off days and there's no guarantees, I would back us to win.

Carroll was pretty poor last season, especially that afternoon. Was really found wanting a lot of the time and made Paul Digby look like Pirlo. I think Evans and Davis in for Carroll and Thompson is a step up, and up front & off the bench as you say we have a lot more in our locker now.

6 points from these next 2 and we'll have our tails right up for Sheff Wed. As you say naturally we look at who we need to fear, but we need to remember they're all looking at us thinking the same.

They’ve got less than 100 tickets left according to their twitter account so will almost certainly sell out their allocation

I'm looking forward to it, but it'll be no walk over and I hate saying it, but highly unlikely we'll do an 'Invincibles' so that loss will come, but hope it can be delayed for a bit!

Will be a good game I'm sure.

Probably because they'd get nowhere near what QPR wanted in terms of contributing to his wages.

Not a single team in the league worries me, i think the attention to detail KMc and his team give every opposition puts us in the driving seat from the first min.

we'll be prepared for what they can offer, and know their weak spots, and how to exploit them.

our midfield will totally dominate them and that is where the game will be won, IMO

fully confident in a professional 2-0 win

I'm exactly the same, all this gushing over Portsmouth and Shef Wed, I really don't get the love in for them.

Concentrate on ourselves for once, appreciate what a bloody good manager and team we have, and we'll be absolutely fine.

told the kids that come the end of the season there would be a big party after a game, fireworks, and the trophy lifted.....

they could paint faces, get blue/white hair chalk, balloons etc.....

so basically we have to win the league or im fcked

It would be great for all our younger fans, to see us lift a trophy. Be that L1 or even something like the Pizza Cup, imo..
I'm old enough to remember the Sir Bobby years and the success we had under Burley. It's easy to be a bit snobbish towards the "lesser" competitions. But for any young kiddies watching The Town. Winning games of football and lifting any trophy, would provide some great memories for them.. Some of our fans have had very little to cheer over the last 20 odd years.
I hope you and the kids get your party. Face paint and all....

Remember the Texaco Cup final? A tinpot cup really, but it was the first thing I really appreciated us winning, and it was a night I will never forget. You're right, our younger fans need something to celebrate, even if it is tinpot.
