More so for us if we are to claw you back a bit.

My thoughts from our forum

Can't see us being as attacking in our line up tomorrow and Mighten will probably drop out for Marv with James going in the back 3 and Palmer at RWB. I wouldn't make changes for the sake of it in the defensive positions mind.

Could perhaps see Gregory not start with Windass up top alongside Smith, FDB or Vaulks to step in.

This is an acid test against, one of if not the biggest, challengers for the title and promotion.

McKenna has done a very good job since taking over and they press high up the pitch, lack of goals cost em in the run in but they've remedied that and are still solid at the back.

Morsy, Chaplin, Harness, Burns, Walton and Evans are excellent and wouldn't begrudge having any of them at ours.

A win would bring them within a point of us.

Those are pretty fair comments.

Portman Road will be rocking, that's for certain- you always come in numbers and make plenty of noise, and the feelgood factor is back for Town fans.

Hopefully it will be a great advert for League One, and although I hope we win I would be very happy for you to come up with us at the end of the season. It could be tasty in the Championship next season if there are Sheffield and East Anglian derbies (we have our fingers crossed that Norwich don't go up, they have theirs crossed that they do, and seeing as they have an extra digit on their hands luck too often seems to side with them!)

Good post.

I'd say we were never in the run in last year for a lack of goals to cost us. Paul Cook left us too far behind. We are already 14 points better off at this stage of the season than we were last!

McKenna is the real deal and as you say, he's done a very good job since coming in. We are a totally different proposition now.

It'll be a failure for either club if we don't go up this year as we are the two strongest squads in the division.

I just hope it's a decent game. Both made a great start, both teams who should, at least by dint of history and size and all that malarkey, be nowhere near this league.

I know Wednesday-ites don't rate Darren Moore, but he's got you playing well. This is the first of the holy trinity, three games back-to-back (Plymouth away and Pompey at home) where we will be severely tested. Hopefully we're good enough now to rise to it.

It's a massive game, in a great stadium with a big crowd to watch it - shame it is in the 3rd tier

If we can not lose today it's a massive bonus and will really set down a marker

I know playing and coaching staff are playing it down (on both sides), but it is absolutely a six-pointer.

For the first time in many years, we look the real deal and it’s fantastic after all this time, but there’s no doubt this afternoon is our biggest test so far this season.

Always had a lot of respect for Wednesday, a proper football club.

In my defence:

1) I had a fair amount of wine last night.

2) I live in Scotland now, so every game is an away game for me.

3) Nope. Got nothing. It was the wine.

4) The fingers crossed line wasn't bad for a drunk person at silly o'clock, was it?

5) My head hurts.

Huge game - in the 1-0 Owls win last season in January…. on 09:08 - Sep 17 with 2045 viewsunstableblue

Town had 64% possession and at times in the first half looked great on the ball, and moved it around really well

But we were completely toothless. Weds 11 shots with 4 on target; Ipswich 10 shots zero on target. The owls were able to cut into us.

But we are a different team this year, and Morsy plays!!

Last year we had

––––––-Walton
––Donacien-Wolf-Edmundson
Burns––––––––––––Thompson
–––––Mizouni–Bakinson
––––Chaplin–––-Celina
––––––––-Bonne

Thompson had nothing going forward; Bonne was completely out of form.
We relied solely on Burns for flair. Celina was in and out of the game.

We didn’t hand Morsy and Evans.

So despite giving a fairly good but toothless display last season we turn up Davis, Harness, Morsy, Evans, Ladapo… all upgrades!!!

Seems strange to see six pointer mentioned so early on in the season but as the league has the potential to end up like last season (80+ points for the play offs and beyond) it does appear that way.

I think that more than anything else, this will be a really good measure for where we are. At this stage in the season with points on the board, it’s not the end of the world if we lose, any more than it is for Wednesday. Nor is it see you later time if we win.

There is plenty of time to improve and both teams over the course of a very long season will. I suspect it’ll be a good old battle and a draw wouldn’t surprise me.

They have open-air libraries in Suffolk? I wonder whether they have lifted their ban on stocking books by Philip Ham.

Massive and I would love to have been able to go.

I think it could easily be a comfortable win for either as both have attributes capable of hurting the other. Or alternatively it could be right ding dong with lot’s of goals each. Don’t see this being uneventful personally!

Genuinely think this is the toughest fixture of the season so I'm not putting too much weight on it.

I would be happy with a point, but am really interested to see if we can implement our style on the game.

We got a bit of a lesson on physicality and power up there last season.
