That doesn't cost the government any money and wasn't one of the contributing factors to the markets freaking out.

We may as well have a cap on footballers bonuses, pop stars bonuses and actors bonuses.

I think you may have forgotten why they were introduced in the first place. Bank bailouts? Ring any bells? 2008? No?

was that after bank had made huge profits and taking massive bonuses doing dodgy kite flying schemes which were always doomed to collapse and then expected 'us poor people' to bail them out when it all collapsed faster than something collapsing really quickly?

Yea, we should never create the environment where directors and actors manage to take down the global economy by being over incentivised to do rom/com musical comedies, shudder.

It might be Penny Mordaunt, as she is answering the urgent question for the prime minister.

Liz Truss seems to be in hiding.

I hate to defend her, but PMs do not ordinarily answer these urgent questions. But yeah, she's for the chopping block sooner rather than later.

There are several in the offing already

The musical about the NHS pay rise - Half a sixpence

Liz Truss life story - No Flair Lady

and the new budget - seven tax incentives for seven bankers

Pal Govey - An ageing politician thinks her last chance of love...and high office...rests with an unlikable upstart

Evicter - The rags to riches story of a council house brat who schemes her way to the top in an unlikely fashion (joining the Liberal Democrats) as South American revolutionary Che looks on despairingly when her plan to let second home owners off all forms of taxation, rent control and tenants rights fails - 'You let down your people, Evicter...'

Chequers - OBR provide the music, Bjoris helps with the lyrics in this tale of cold war adversaries and the country house meeting that has almost no bearing on the outcome.
[edit] House guest Jacob Rees-Mogg looks on aghast at what they are calling the board game and exclaims 'Draughts', to which Joe Biden replies 'Well, put on another waistcoat...'

You and city are both missing the point. We were discussing dumping parts of the 2022 mini budget. The removal of the bankers bonus cap does not have a cost to the government in the context of this budget and was not a contributing factor in the markets being spooked.

I think the first suggestion is a bit unfair on Starmer, I would go for 'Wet Snide Tory' in which a classical composer scores a populist revamp of a tragic story set in Renaissance Italy. What do you mean the venerable old party is nothing like 'The Prince', surely Machiavelli would have revelled in the current leadership battle ?

Anyway, imagine Rory Stewart turned by an irrational love for someone from the other side (Suella, Suella, I just met a girl called Suella) and turning away from all reason and rationally to become a venal self serving party apparatchik (To Knight, To Knight, I'll get some cash To Knight.) Of course it all ends badly, tribal warfare between the Hawks and the Wets, Rory runs away to find Suella apparently dead by her own hand (she has backed the wrong candidate and been frozen out) so he does the same (hang on a second, hasn't he already done that ?)

Penny Mordaunt seemed to be saying so (for the moment) in her awful interview with Kuenssberg just now.

"I'm not saying what my policies will be until Jeremy tells me what he's going to let me do." Paraphrased.

Just imagine Rory and Stella arm in arm

if you can fight in the Cabinet

and then facing each other they sing

Cabaret seems the obvious choice for a musical about the current government.

I can see Rees-Mogg playing the Emcee ("Wilkommen. Bien venu, welcome!"), Mordaunt perhaps as Sally (though "Maybe This Time" would perhaps be better performed by Johnson), the entire PCP would play the instrumental "Sitting Pretty" and there are a list of candidates from Patel, Badenoch and Braverman all the way to Hunt, T who would relish the chance to perform "Tomorrow Belongs To Me" ("The sun on the uplands is Brexity warm .....").

Indeed, the entire party could finally unite to sing 'Money makes the World go around...'
