Suffolk: BBC local radio stations to be cancelled after 2pm on 21:18 - Oct 31 by DJR | Absolutely, Phil. It's a fantastic show and one I try to listen to every time, whether on the way to a game or otherwise. Indeed, it's something that makes up for Brenner and co no longer being available for those of us who don't live in Suffolk. I don't suppose there would be a way of reviving through another outlet such as a commercial station, Ipswich Community Radio or even the club itself, when things are fully in-house. But perhaps it would just not be commercially viable. |
Cheers. Not sure a commercial station would be up for it. Indeed, not really much local with anything like the reach of Radio Suffolk. Other than Radio Two, which apparently is just huge, Life's a Pitch was the most listened to show in its slot in Suffolk.

So TWTD radio it is. When's the launch?

I'll speak to some investors. The Naked Football Show started as a sort of TWTD on the radio. And actually, we had a radio show on Community Radio on one of their temporary licences back in the Premier League days, which we called Radio Days.

Suffolk: BBC local radio stations to be cancelled after 2pm on 20:10 - Oct 31 by monytowbray | The cynic in me says this is just a way to focus control of the message that goes out to the wider country to the powers that be. The Tories are truly in with their grubby mitts. The output of the last 7 years should tell you that much. Destroying the Been has long been an aim of the Tories via advice from Cummings/Tufton St. |
Here's a surprising one for you here Towbars - the bloke accused of attacking Nancy Pelosi's old man was radicalised by Gamergate. https://kotaku.com/nancy-pelosi-hammer-attack-gamergate-david-depape-paul-184972

Norfolk had Radio Broadland and someone had the idea of merging the sports output and having it based out of Norwich, but BBC Radio Suffolk was coming along to save the day.

Suffolk: BBC local radio stations to be cancelled after 2pm on 20:49 - Oct 31 by Swansea_Blue | It’s probably a bit late for that. This is probably a result of the licence fee settlement agreed by Osborne in 2015 that resulted in the BBC needing to find £1BN in annual savings. That should have allowed them to increase the licence fee in line with inflation, but then the settlement under Dorries this year has frozen the fee. Worth complaining I suppose as they’ll be making choices based on demand, but they can’t avoid the cuts. |
I've been trying to point out to all the people I know who complain about BBC bias and unwillingness to pay the licence fee that this would be the outcome. The Beeb is so much more than BBC News which is what seems to be the root of their ire. In many places, it's the glue that sticks communities together. As with the NHS, it's a managed decline by the government. Stop it working Tell people it's not working and not good enough Starve it of funds Sell it off or close it down. Simples isn't it Vlad?

well why restrict yourself to radio, there are loads of content producers on youtube who do livestreaming at a broadcast quality the Beeb couldnt replicate, certainly not for the same cost, if theres an audience for it theyll find you whatever platform you are on, its not a Beeb can only make it work thing.

Up against 'Pick of The Pops', tough competition from Gambacinni!

"The attacker reportedly ran a now-deleted Wix blog where he posted conspiracy theories about QAnon, the Holocaust, sex rings run by the Democractic party, and coronavirus". Doh! He only missed climate change denial and supporting Brexit for a full house. Rookie error.

Suffolk: BBC local radio stations to be cancelled after 2pm on 21:27 - Oct 31 by Swansea_Blue | It hasn’t, and the govt knew inflation was a problem when the latest deal was struck earlier this year. If the 2015 deal had been fully honoured, the licence fee would be £190 now instead of £150something. That’s £1BN a year less in real terms, so there’s bound to be cuts/changes. They could sack Gary Lineker to save half of it! |
I kind of agree with your final sentence. I sometimes feel the BBC puts it’s populist angle ahead of what makes it unique, and protecting the latter.

A cheese and biscuit combination that aids hair regrowth would certainly be a winner.

I rarely watch the TV output of the BBC, but listen to their radio stations a lost - Suffolk, 2,5 and 6. The BBC continue to pay Alan Shearer £400k a year. Edit: I still don't understand why R5 got rid of classified results, it takes Mark Chapman longer to read them out now! [Post edited 1 Nov 2022 9:09]

We were up against Graham Norton, which apparently had a phenomenal audience.
