With Buxton coming to us in the second round of the Cup, I was thinking they will surely be the lowest-ranked side I will have seen us play against in a competitive fixture. We were due to play Droylsden in the third round at home in 2008/09 (?) but they were kicked out due to fielding an ineligible player and Chesterfield were reinstated - we ended up winning 3-0 and I remember Jon Stead scoring.
Like Buxton now, Droylsden were also in the National League (Conference) North. Buxton actually only came up from the seventh tier last season, and they are currently towards the bottom, although they don’t seem to concede too many goals. I suppose it will be a bit of a unique occasion for both sets of supporters.

Probably the lowest ranked side we've played at home in many years, but going back we were at a low level ourselves playing in preliminary and qualifying rounds. In 1936/37, our first season as a pro club, for example, we played Eastern Counties United, Stowmarket, Lowestoft, Cromer and Cambridge Town and Spennymoor Town, all at home (one replay) as well as Watford.

When did we last play a team as far down the pyramid at Portman Road? on 17:48 - Nov 8 with 2597 views
They've been going a year longer than us, so good on them. Their promotion last year was basically based on any team playing at their home ground suffered from altitude sickness. It is the highest altitude ground in the English football pyramid. So the home draw was fortunate, and we should be fine to get through.

You've got a wonderful memory, I can't even remember who we played last season.

Was that one cup run? 7 rounds? Is that the longest cup run in the club's history?

Yes, all the same run. You're probably right about that. Definitely the most goals we've scored on a cup run and the 11-0 victory over Cromer would be our biggest win!

We played Street FC of the Western League in the 1st round of the FA cup in 1938.

I recognize the majority of them, but what happened to Watford?
