Itching 11:06 - Nov 16 with 5453 views | giant_stow | Any tips to deal with it please? Dr stuff in progress, but I'm now one of 7m on a waiting list, so looking for old-wives tale style things if anyone has one? At this rate I'm liable to have ripped my skin off before I make it to a dermatologist. ta [Post edited 16 Nov 2022 11:07]

Deep heat. On a serious note have you changed washing powder/ capsules/ fabric conditioner recently? Also - where does it itch?

Itching on 13:43 - Nov 16 by SlippinJimmyJuan | This is the best suggestion - it depends on what is itching, and what the skin looks like, as well as any other symptoms you may have. Some of the suggestions you have had could make it worse depending on what the specific problem is, although they will work a treat for other itches. For example, an aqueous cream used on the wrong sort of itch can cause some pretty nasty unwanted effects. Talk to a pharmacist first because it could be a waste of time and money, or you could end up with an angrier itch. A 111 clinician would also be likely to give you a decent indication of what is safe to take for your specific symptoms, however, you will have to go through the questions with someone non-medical first, and they will then probably recommend you talk to your GP. At that point you can refuse the outcome and ask to speak to a clinician. You will most likely have to wait many hours for a call back, but someone should be able to guide you. I'd opt for talking to a pharmacist myself. Feel better soon! |
Cheers mr. I don't want to disgust everyone at lunchtime, but its *everywhere*. Either lots of red itchy bumps or solid red skin - it's truly lovely to look at.

Definitely worth speaking to someone pronto then. I'd add that should you find it worsening in the morning, you should definitely call the GP again. As an above poster said, also worth thinking about any changes that could have caused it, though I'm sure you already are!

Every last knock and cranny, plus shoulders arms and back and legs. Its truly yummy. Its funny how one only appreciates an ailment when you've experience of it. I know there are far worst complaints out there, but anyone who has to deal with this for life as my utter respect for the burden they have to carry. They must be hard as nails tbh [Post edited 16 Nov 2022 14:29]

You really out to be seen by a consultant as a matter of urgency. If this is unlikely, have you considered a private hospital? An initial consultation is normally about £200, but you might not need any more.

Thanks mr - I checked the fee for one near by and it was £300 just for the initial consultation, no tests or treatment. I just can't afford that right now, to my shame. On the waiting list for the NHS. Mum(my) has offered to pay, but I just can't accept that at my age! Sorry all, this is a bit self-obsessed - I didn't mean for it to be a long thread, but appreciate the help hugely - you're all gems.

Have you considered it could be an allergic reaction to something you've *eaten* (or drank) - since it's sudden, and all over. Or medication taken by mouth? And as it's over your whole body, so traditional herbal ointments like Chickweed & Calendula which help skin conditions would be hopeless to apply, I'll just add that Neal's Yard Invigorating Seaweed shampoo (can be used all over) which I used for the first time in my shower yesterday, left my scalp, for the first time ever in my adult life, itch-free. Long shot but you did say *all* suggestions welcome! https://www.nealsyardremedies.com/products/invigorating-seaweed-shampoo-200ml?_p *Edited to add that one reviewer said it greatly alleviated the itching from her psoriasis, which I imagine is possibly the worst itchy skin problem out there. Feel for you, but as others have said, you really should see a medic asap. [Post edited 16 Nov 2022 15:22]

Apologies for suggesting. I didn't know your situation. To be honest, it is a disgrace that people even have to consider such measures, and desperately unfair for those who can't afford that route.

Itching on 16:49 - Nov 16 with 1152 views | J2BLUE | Book an online doctor appointment and try and get some of this stuff: A few years ago I was scratching myself raw at the bottom of my back. I resisted going to the doctor but eventually I relented and was prescribed this. Literally instant relief. I used it exactly as prescribed showering 3x per day with something like Dove shower gel before applying more. No problem since. Sincerely wish you luck mate.

Itching on 18:09 - Nov 16 with 1043 views | MalcolmMeatballHead | I hope the medical professionals looking after you consider a thyroid condition. I have thyroid disease and it messes you up . Makes your eyes bulgey and I look like a freak, makes you feel the cold more and makes you itchy. I take levothyroxine tablets that help though and also having thyroid disease makes you exempt from NHS prescription charges. Every cloud lol but seriously thyroid conditions are horrible. I'm always cold and have massive goggly eyes. That combined with anxiety is no way to live life. Sorry to go on it's just I literally have nobody to talk to Wishing you all the best [Post edited 16 Nov 2022 18:17]

If it's downstairs, get a pair of tight undies and completely soak them in deep heat all around the crotch area. When you put the undies on be sure to make sure they are snug/tight to get maximum contact.
