Any tips to deal with it please? Dr stuff in progress, but I'm now one of 7m on a waiting list, so looking for old-wives tale style things if anyone has one? At this rate I'm liable to have ripped my skin off before I make it to a dermatologist. ta

Yeah the dr gave me some Emoliant stuff for the bath - early days, but I think baths might make it worse even.

No reason to not cover yourself in emollient before showering to help protect the skin.

E45 afterwards is a good shout. As is trying antihistamines. No need to waste cash on the known brands, as Noggin says the main types are Loratadine and Cetirizine of which most supermarkets provide an own-brand option.

If it's a new issue I would certainly consider allergies; maybe a dust mite thing or even bed bugs. Read up a bit on washing procedures to ensure bedding is mite-free. If you don't have them then consider investing in anti-mite duvet, pillow and mattress covers.

Make a point of looking about - those products are not all the same.

Maybe try different laundry products and shower products. Simple range of soap and shower gels are good value at Tesco, Sainsbury's et al.

I hope the medical professionals looking after you consider a thyroid condition. I have thyroid disease and it messes you up . Makes your eyes bulgey and I look like a freak, makes you feel the cold more and makes you itchy. I take levothyroxine tablets that help though and also having thyroid disease makes you exempt from NHS prescription charges. Every cloud lol but seriously thyroid conditions are horrible. I'm always cold and have massive goggly eyes. That combined with anxiety is no way to live life. Sorry to go on it's just I literally have nobody to talk to

Wishing you all the best

No. You couldn't even make this sh#t up. I've been through hell this afternoon.

Got the train to Colchester, walked from the station to ASDA, got 12 eggs (I normally only get 6) and went to pay at the cigarette kiosk as I needed some tobacco (I'm not a smoker btw). The woman behind the counter was literally the biggest idiot head in the whole entire stratosphere and demanded Id from me. All I said, albeit loudly and angrily was 'ARE YOU AN IDIOT? IM 40 YEARS OLD YOU DIV' (I was p1ssed off as some woman spilt a bottle of milk on me on the train earlier). Before I knew it I was surrounded by security and frogmarched from the store.

Jus got off the train and now back in Manningtree. Gonna walk to the co op and get some tobacco, plasters and (hopefully) eggs

If it's downstairs, get a pair of tight undies and completely soak them in deep heat all around the crotch area.

When you put the undies on be sure to make sure they are snug/tight to get maximum contact.

Have you tried looking for duck eggs if you can't get hens'?

Little difference in flavour, just slightly richer & bigger. I love 'em. Many supermarkets have sold them in the past (not sure about currently).

Thanks loads mrs. Pretty sure its not allergic, although I haven't got round to testing / rulings things out one by one yet, so not certain.

I thought this in my late 20’s when my skin would flare up for no real reason. Transpired it was all to do with histamines and my body not being able to deal. The sun, dust, tomato, booze, fish, egg, olive oil and anything else reasonably fun would set it off. It was awful, especially when trying to plan a holiday.

Good news, your body will likely grow out of it eventually but try smashing supermarket own hayfever pills and a giant w@nk

I have seen bedbugs before I'm sure but not experienced them in my own home to my knowledge. But I've seen something tiny strolling across my tablet's screen before so who knows what those are.

Those mozzie bites we get, are they all mozzies? How did that thing get that far into the bed eh?

Most of us will probably never know I suppose. Just tiny insects at the end of the day that find their way indoors so should think most homes have had them. Easy to bring home with you when you've stayed somewhere.

I've been having a sweep through as I am fed up of coughing, sneezing and spluttering from allergies. I don't know what causes it as it seems to be anything from flowers to cats to dust to heck knows what. I needed a new mattress and wanted a clean slate to go with it, hence a load of new bedding stuff. Figured it couldn't hurt to cover all bases, so to speak.

Anti-allergy bedding may well make a difference and I have come across a few sites. A high thread count will help to keep out dust mites. Some stuff can be a bit pricey but the quality is worth it. We spend a lot of time in bed so it's the one place you don't wan to skimp if/when you can help it.

Vac more than you do already. I've gone back in time and bought a bagged vac for the same purpose.

I’ve had skin problems for years, including itching. E45, Calamine lotion are about the best for me, but nothing has ever really worked.

One thing that caused problems for me was biological washing powder and scented soaps. Basic stuff and fairy non bio have helped and might be worth a try.

My mother when she was 88 was asked for proof of age at Eastbourne station for a Senior Railcard.

Apparently, they would only accept her passport or a driving licence.

They wouldn't even accept her bus pass which had her photo.

It was particularly annoying given I'd driven her there specially.

Why can't people just show some common sense?

I suppose the need for ID is related to fraud (eg. a 59 year old pretending to be 60), but how many 88 year old fraudsters are there out there?

I went through a brief spell where my legs were incredibly itchy after showering. For that, moisturizing really helped. Without knowing the cause, it is difficult to know if it will help.

Also Google Image search carpet beetles. They can produce a strong allergic reaction in some people.

The one thing I haven't seen mentioned on the thread is Shingles. Intense painful itch at nerve endings. Worth a Google.

I had exactly the same. It was horrible, and I would put jeans / trousers on to head to work etc and just have to scratch myself silly. Usually subsided relatively quickly and never did get to the bottom of it, maybe it was the shower gel I was using or something.

Hope you feel better soon Ulls.
