This is not a good day for Johnsons.

That's a real shame, after his long and successful battle against cancer some years ago.

Just missed seeing him play back in the spring.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

I saw him at the john peel Centre but it was more about him talking than playing.

Sad, sad, news. I was lucky enough to see him at Bearded Theory back in May and he was on top form. One of a kind and all the cliches, we will not see his like again etc., are true in this instance.

I doubt that there is a heaven but if there is I would think a grand reunion with Lee is just starting:

Gutted, just saw this thread and got one of those 'shock' moments as I read it.

A great guy, I shared a beer with him in The Grand Hotel in Leigh on more than one occasion, very, very sad.

Going to rewatch Oil City Confidential later as a tribute.

No idea when I began here, was a very long time ago. Previously known as Spirit_of_81. Love cheese, hate the colour of it, this is why it requires some blue in it.

In memory of Wilko Johnson. RIP.

We have no village green, or a shop. It's very, very quiet. I can walk to the pub.

I probably shouldn't say that things could look up if a third one followed.

I shouldn't say that should I.

So I won't.

That's a shame, however I am thankful we got more time for Wilko than it looked like we might some years ago, a Tim's during which he put out some of his best stuff.

My mum had the same kind of pancreatic cancer in the 90s and had similarly invasive surgery (which was ultimately what she died of 11 years later). I wonder if the same happened to Wilko

Very sad news. I remember when he went through the pancreatic cancer he said that he didn't mind because he would see his (already deceased) wife again.

Brilliant live; as OP says - a legend.

Wilko sort of spoonerised his name, which is actually John Wilkinson.

it seems he actually had a rare, slow-growing neuroendocrine cancer.

As does one of my relatives, who has a monthly injection that costs £1000 a time and is sent to him from Addenbrookes by motor cycle courier.

Dr Feelgood played at our school disco in 1976. Very good, although we also had Ian Dury and the Blockheads the year after who I considered slightly better at the time.

Less is more.

Sad news.
Glad he got the extra time.
As Roger Daltrey says - "His music lives on but there’s no escaping the final curtain this time."

On thé other hand he lived far longer with pancreatic cancer than most (not a good advert for chemo) - and a lot longer than Lee Brilleaux.
