I really need a new prescription of my thyroid tablets for an underactive thyroid and have been without them for 7 days (I'm starting to feel wierd). My problem is that I have really bad anxiety, so much so that I'm scared to make a phone call so I haven't phoned to reorder them. Really need these tablets but to order them I will have to speak to the receptionist who is alway angry because I haven't ordered them sooner (I think she suffers from PMT or depression)

Am I within my rights to call them and demand to only speak to the doctor who will give me sympathy and guidance or will I have to go through the angry woman on the front desk?

I do really need these tablets as I could go into a coma if I don't take them and it's been a week since I last took them. However, to do so I have to succumb to the venomous wrath of the angry woman. She is so angry it makes me shake. No word of a lie

I'm not saying anything else on this matter in case of being called a troll. Why the hell would I make these health conditions up?

For anyone interested in putting a mate up for a few weeks as he got evicted and is awaiting a new home. He saw me in tears and took it upon himself to call my GP on my behalf. I can pick 2 weeks worth of levothyroxine up tomorrow morning but have to also have a blood test in about a week

To those who offered support I thank you. To those who have been nasty I just hope your dad/brother/son never goes through the hell I'm going through. I'm even getting to the point where I'm scared to open up on here in case I'm ridiculed and accused of being on a wind up. What a bullying bunch some of you are!

As I've said, this really was a genuine post from a bloke in need

I meant to say I'm puttin a mate up

I have anxiety, PTSD, hypothyroidism and coeliac. Believe what you want but people like you are the reason men don't cry for help. Absolute idiot

We are always being told men should speak out for help when in need. I done so on the only platform i can and have been absolutely demonised.

As I said many times in this thread, it was a genuine question from a bloke who is absolutely broken. Have I trolled before? Maybe. Hand on heart though this was genuine. If you don't believe me then screw you

I'm going for a walk down the river Stour (in the rain).

I find your trolling, especially in regards to mental health quite distasteful if I'm honest.

There could be other men to afraid to ask for help because you have been playing the class clown on here and using it as an excuse which is incredibly unpalatable.

Maybe you should think twice before trying to make a joke out of a subject that is close to a lot people hearts on here.

Also, 20 minutes ago you said you couldn't leave the house due to anxiety, now you're off for a walk?

it's as plain as day your are trolling.

Div list you go.

Perhaps I'm naive but I think it's probably safer to assume someone is genuine if they're posting something of this nature. It feels to me that the downside risk of not doing so far outweighs the upside potential of 'outing' a troll.

Don't know if this post is genuine or a wind up. I'm on levothyroxine. Not taking it won't kill you ( short to medium turn) but will make you very tired and can make you feel like you have flu symptoms. Long term an untreated or too low a dose of medication will have a very serious consequence on your health and yes could kill you. You should have a blood test once a year to determine what dose to take. I'm currently on 125mcg , up 25, as my dose was too low. You then have a test every 3 months until you get to the right level. An underactive thyroid is a serious condition and should be treated as so. If anyone feels continuously tired, starts putting on weight and (not always) gets aching joints, go get a blood test.

Cheers to those who have offered advice/ kind words. All the best to you all and sorry if you thought I was on a wind up- I really wasn't and that is so true

According to him, he's previously won £2million on the lotto, £1million from a bet, has a wife, 5 kids including a 13 yr old, has spent several afternoons on wild hen chases walking/getting train looking to buy eggs in Colchester & Manningtee (but is also house-bound in his "squalid" flat due to anxiety)'; has no friends apart from 60-82 year women who can't keep away from him - and yet he doesn't have the means to request a prescription online, nor anyone who can collect one for him.

Sorry, but I'm with Hype on this.

Thank you so much for the reply. I'm also on 125 of levothyroxine a day. You mention blood tests and the reason the receptionist gets so Mardy with me is because I haven't had my thyroid levels checked for about a year. I just can't face going and sitting in a waiting room with everyone looking at me. It's madness how anxiety can do this to you.

To the person who asked where the PTSD stems from it's a long story. Bullying from an ex boss and an ex wife, sorry to be so vague but it would take ages to explain.

The rest of your posting is pretty harmless and so unfunny that it is amusing to see what comes next, but health is not really to be joked about. I choose to believe that you're being genuine about this topic because if nothing else, the good advice you've received would be helpful to someone actually facing this situation.

Only a very disturbed individual with no regard for anybody else would seek to troll generally kindhearted individuals about this sort of thing.

Good luck to you, Malcolm.

If this is a genuine post, then you have my sympathy and support as a fellow forum member. I work in mental health so I'm hard wired to take posts like this at face value and willing to risk being trolled, or ridiculed, rather than to hear that something tragic has happened.

However, you are more a victim of your previous postings with some of the reactions here. If used respectfully, this forum is an excellent sounding board for people who are going through a tough time. I can count on one hand the people I know on here personally, but there are dozens of people on here , that I know will be comforting and helpful while following through with any offers of support.

Maybe there's a lesson here in that if you act a certain way 99% of the time, you may struggle to get taken seriously for that 1% when you are genuinely in need.

Blood tests are done by appointment. Get the first one of the day. Straight in straight out.

You have the option of the NHS app or web site to order repeat prescriptions - and loads of private companies deliver repeat prescriptions to your door. The bad news is you’ll need an access code from Madame Grumpy. Also you don’t need to go yourself - anyone can request and pick up your prescription- neighbour, family member etc.

Lots of options - I’m sure your practice will be pleased to help

Cheers again. I have a blood test soon. It just absolutely distraughts me having to walk through a waiting room full of people. As I say I'm not looking for sympathy but it really does ruin your life. It's hell on earth living this life and I'm saying too much and being abused too much so I will leave it be.

Someone said earlier why am I going for a walk if I have anxiety and are housebound? Firstly I've never said I'm housebound and also I was going for a walk into town to pick up my meds as the doctors called and fast tracked it so I can collect before 6. However, as ridiculous as it sounds I don't actually have a coat and I can't go out in this rain.

Rain or sunshine I will be at the pharmacy first thing tomorrow.

Agree with your gist, but anyone who has a chronic medical condition (he says he should have regular thyroid level tests & takes regular medication) will already have a repeat prescription in place, and can order their script/meds online as I do, without the need for any human intervention at all.

They can then be picked up by anyone - incl. community volunteer/s - and delivered to his door.
